2021 misaligned rear axle???

Truck has 1500 miles
Noticed the tires stick out further on the passengers side. Is this normal, its pretty noticeable in person just looking from one side to the other. Tried to get a good reference picture. Any have this issue?

 

Yes that’s normal.

Curious to what causes this? I've never noticed it on mine. Now i'm going to have to look...

Probably just tolerance stack up and that's the most extreme area. Body relative to mounts relative to chassis relative to leafs relative to axle. The front is probably less noticeable since there's probably less allowable tolerance, where as the rear axle position doesn't matter much as long as the thrust angle (perpendicularity to motion direction) is low. If it's left or right it doesn't affect the truck, so why make manufacturing and assembly harder. All guesses though.

 

I didn’t notice mine until I got slightly wider wheels with less offset. But I have it too.

 

Normal. The trucks aren't square. If you go measuring the body panel alignments you'll start twitching if you are OCD. I read somewhere on the forum that it had to do with counteracting axle wrap or some such, but IDK if that's true. Never really cared, and I don't check the measurements on the body panels because my damn OCD makes my eye twitch enough without me agitating it unnecessarily!

My Tacoma had this, though way worse than I've seen on any Tundra. The bed/box was misaligned on my Tacoma. Very common on Tacomas.

 

Once I knew about it I noticed it for awhile and then forgot all about it too. Now I remember again.

 

Yup. I noticed it, and then I looked where the cab and the bed meet, and it's off center, and then I looked at my rear bumper's black top plates and they aren't matched side to side, and and and....

 

For the love of everything right in the world, please put "trigger warning" at the start of a thread like this!

 

Wonder if you could get it jacked up on the frame drooping the rear tires, loosen the U-bolts, give everything a little shimmy then torque everything back down and see if it changes? Just thinking out loud, not sure if something could have been bound up a little when tightened causing a shift. Do the leafs look aligned on the axle perches, then from there following everything up (shackles etc.)? I looked closely when I put my wheel spacers on at the tire poke and I never noticed any big difference from one side to the other. Like others said it might be normal, but maybe some do have a fixable cause.

 

Fwiw, everything about it flexes and shifts while driving, so being anal about it is silly.

 

The only perfect symmetrical car I own.lol and yes the tires stick out the same all around.

 

@Railroad 07 now go look in the mirror - I bet one of your eyes is lower.

 

I found another post on another forum that said the rear end is “offset” from the factory on our trucks. It’s most noticeable when you lower a tundra , I recently slammed mine.
Alignment place said it was fine front and rear , post went on to say the offset axle is due to the weight on the driver side. Battery, fuel tank, driver, etc.

 

Can confirm...I have a 2015 dbl cab...same issue.
