Does anyone add a supercharger so they can drive responsibly?

Depends on what you call significant. A roughly 30% increase is not insignificant.

An average of $5,212 increase from 2021 models, let's see what that money is getting you:

    +5 mpg
    +8 hp
    +36 lb/ft
    +2,000 lbs towing
    Wireless CarPlay and AndroidAuto
    8 inch Infotainment Screen
    Updated Infotainment System
    Updated Toyota Safety Sense 2.5
    Refreshed Interior and Exterior
    Upgraded Suspension System to Multi-Link
    Composite Bed

Anything else I'm missing that's standard across all trims?

My point is if you could add all of that to your previous gen truck for $5,212, wouldn't most people say yes? You may not want it, but I think it's a reasonable price jump for the upgrades that have been made.

I was waiting for someone to say “ but they buy in bulk so it’s cheaper!!! But shipping costs have gone up and it used to cost 3000 plus to ship a container and there are folks saying it costs up to five times that now!!! So you got that going on!! Like I said it will all be revealed in the real life and not by any of us guessing at what the price of the new Toyota Trucks will cost.

I like most of that, but

SR trim 40hp less,no 6th seat option, less interior space, no v8 sound, and I’m guessing less reliability which then means worse resale value. Pretty sure those are the 2 things most important to Toyota buyers. And I actually prefer the looks of the new gen.

I remember one of the interviews with Sweers where he talked about having the option for a bed mat or the spray in no-slip coating. Most of the build sheets have had the nearly $600 spray-in liner option - must be a ton of margin on it. Wonder how difficult it will be to get one with a mat instead so you can decide if you want it slippery for some applications and sticky for others.

Especially since the SR is detuned anyway. If they didn't do that to somehow decrease the price, why bother?

    Absolutely not.
We all know that MPG won't be accurate(Look at the ecoboost)
Power? So far they are SLOWER than a 2nd gen with a 5.7.
I would never buy a car for infotainment. Ever.
    Leaf springs are stronger.
    I can keep going.
The only benefit to me would be the composite bed.

Please don’t bring logic and reasoning to the discussion. This thread is for people to bitch about being priced out of a new Tundra.

MPG is handled by a different organization, not Toyota.
I never said they were faster. I would wait for more official 0-60 times to come out anyways before we can really compare the two.
You may not buy a vehicle for infotainment, but it's still a big deal to some people.

    Can you really keep going?

Nobody is forcing you to buy the new tundra. If you like what you have keep it. I'm just pointing out that bitching about the pricing is dumb when they just added all of the features I listed for an average of $5k across every trim, and that's not even factoring in the new standard equipment on the upper trims that weren't available in previous gen.

This and sunroofs are useless in hot climates. Not sure about Phoenix, but in Houston I never use a sunroof...

At least they're offering two different sizes. When Ford and Ram went to the stupid pano sunroof they did away with the normal sized one and said like the Soup Nazi "NO SUNROOF FOR YOU, FOREVER" if you buy less than a crew cab.

The 60 times were all around 7 seconds, from everyone that tested them
As for MPG, you're right so that means some grandma driving it without ever going beyond 1/4 throttle.

well we are going for a platinum 5.5, no matter which way we go with config 1, 2, 3 or any combo we are still under our imposed $68k hard cap before trade in.

only bad part is the hybrid if we decide on getting it will push us over 70-71k which i dont think we are will to go, just depends on how the numbers come out next year since it will be another year before we could get a hybrid.

Do you.... know what the EPA is or what they do?

All of the YouTube testing was done on pre-production units during less than ideal conditions, they were getting high 6 numbers which is still pretty close to what previous gen was at. You may be right that it's slower, I would just recommend we wait a little while and let there be actual testing done before we gripe about it.

Personally I would take the truck to get PPF done 3rd party. Most aftermarket films are much better than the one Toyota uses.

"Chill out, Hex" is a great rebuttal to me pointing out nothing but facts lol.

Dealers are selling these at MSRP with no ADMs, you do realize that don't you?

I didn't calculate any price, I just took the pricing sheet from 2021 and compared it to 2022. Toyota made the prices, not me. The dealers adding accessories to up the sticker price will stop once the initial rollout is completed.

Toyotas also tend to pretty much get their rated numbers in the real world while Fords don't.

I saw in a review video, may have been TFL but I just can't remember, the host said they were told the new Tundra shifts out of 1st early in the rev range to preserve the diff. If that is true it would definitely hurt the 0-60 time. Wish I could find the video.

Also i just went and looked at the platinum model videos. All the blue print color ones were with hybrid engines. I bet it’s only on that engine option. What a bummer

I haven't been able to find what that package consists of yet but it's actually only available on 1794 for some reason.

I don't think the platinum is getting the off-road package. That is one of the mistakes from the spec sheet. the options price list doesn't have it available either.

Yeah, I like the platinum a lot better than the 1794 (looks wise) but I want to get the off-road package.

Agreed. I'm not in the market for either one but I would be bummed out if I had to get the cowboy version just to get the OR package. That's a big miss by Toyota.

I may wait until 2023 model year to make a decision on a truck, if I'm not mistaken (I haven't really paid attention in the past) but I'm thinking Toyota may offer some of these packages on other trims next year (correct me if I'm wrong), like tow mirrors on the Pro, or the OR package on the Platinum.

So do we know exactly what comes with some of the packages? Like what do you get with the trd offroad premium? Thank you for this info by the way.

I hate to say it, but with the 12%+ increase in purchase price, any kind of fuel savings conversation is pretty much over. You won't be saving anything by purchasing this truck.
