I wanna do a DIY project at home and I wanna paint my chrome wheels… when I bought the truck they came with chrome moto metal rims they’ve started to peel a bit so I was going to paint them black. If anyone could give me some pointers before I go ahead and paint them I’d really appreciate it.

Painting over chrome IMO never has a great outcome, especially when they have already started to peel. If you really like the rims, I would consider having them bead blasted and then figure out how to paint/powder coat after that. Just my 2 cents. ;)

Only way to do it is have is sand or bead blasted, and at that point you would be better off powdercoating vs painting.

As stated, if the chrome is peeling get it completely removed first otherwise you will not be happy with the paint (probably won't look smooth) and it will most likely chip/flake before too long.

Just get them powder coated. They will do all the work.
