Just wanted to give a shout out to all of those who suggested cleaning my throttle body after replacing my alternator - just like everyone else who experienced this issue - truck wouldn't idle properly (too low) - after trying numerous other remedies, I cleaned the throttle body and the thing runs like a top (Toyota). Thanks to all for the good advice and this forum.

I would be interested in more information on just what you did and what chemical you used.

Got a can of "throttle body cleaner" at Autozone. I guess it is specifically made for this purpose. Lot's of cautions advising not to use anything else. I was able to remove the throttle body so I could get to both sides of the butterfly without disconnecting the coolant lines. There are a couple of good videos for this online.
