I have a 2021 Crew Max Limited and recently starting hearing a clunk noise, definitely coming from the front end. It happens when I back up, then put into drive and drive away. Happens pretty much every time, every day.

    Anyone else experiencing this?

More than likely the ABS self check. Mine does it at 6 or 7 mph.

Yep mine at 5 mph. I read somewhere on here that it is the ABS.

I've also heard the noise, only when beginning to move, at the same time/speed/distance from my normal parking spots. I looked around on here and heard that it is completely normal. The ABS system doing a self check after start up, is what I believe was explained.

If just going forward from initial start, it is the ABS self check at 15mph.

If reversing from initial start then proceeding forward, it is most likely the pins inside the brake calipers clicking; followed by the ABS self check.

I dunno folks. It wasn’t doing it when I first got the truck. And if it is the abs then literally every single Tundra would do it and I don’t think that’s the case.

Mine does it too. Doesn’t seem right to me on a brand new 2021 truck, but everyone says it’s okay….

It almost sounds like tire rub when you start going. Thanks, I didn't suspect anything to be wrong but had definitely heard it.

Hmmm. Ok, then let me ask if there are any of you out there that are NOT experiencing this?

Plus the evidence of the video. These are the times we live in. I guess it could be something different, but every Tundra makes a clunk upon start up. If that is what OP is referring to, they all do it. It is a little shocking when you first notice it.

I always noticed it but never thought it was loud or anything.

OP can always go to the dealer though in case of the one off situation that it could be something else. Especially since he's skeptical of it.

Only because I don’t recall hearing it in the first few months of owning it. For me, it only happens when I put in reverse and then into drive. Doesn’t happen when parked and then simply drive forward so it’s inconsistent in that manner, hence the question.

Not sure if you are still under warranty, but if you have time and it’s reproducible then go by a dealer and ask them to look at it real quick. A tech should be able to do it in the parking lot. Just make sure they don’t want to charge a diagnostic fee. Sometimes they will want an appt though.

So if you start up and drive forward (no reverse) it doesn't do the sound? That is a problem that it isn't doing the ABS self check. Start it up, turn your bad ass music down, turn off the heat/ac, then put it in drive and accelerate slowly while listening really hard. If it isn't doing the noise then....then that is a issue. I shit my pants the first time I "heard" it after having it a couple days. Then I heard it every day. Now it is tuned out.
