    Howdy y'all.

Looking to lift my 2021 Tundra CM TRD Sport and am in between running Kings or going with an Icon stage 3 lift.

I know it's virtually impossible to get Kings at the moment, but I'm not working on a time frame so I'm not worried about that. I want to do it correctly the first time and not have to change out afterwards. Does anyone have any advice regarding these two? Or possibly a line on some Kings or Icons that I should look at?

    Thanks in advance.

My kings have lasted me 4 years no issues, had them rebuilt just december of last year and they're like new again, I love them. I have seen many icons leak and sometimes terrible customer service, king customer service is on it.

I recently had Kings 2.5 OEM installed on my truck and they will be coming back off and I will be returning my truck to Toyota OEM suspension after only about 600 miles of having the Kings. I think these shocks are better for people that want to take their truck off road, but since mine is just a daily driver, I can't get used to the more firmer ride compared to stock. They look cool and are supposed to be great off road, but to me they are not comfortable on California roads.

Yes their customer service is really good. They said I could send them in for revalving at no cost but I'm just going to go back to stock and sell these because I don't want to mess with it anymore. I know a big part of it is my tires and the roads in Southern CA don't help either with the seems every 10 feet on the highway, but part of it is also that these are off road shocks meant for off road driving. Many people like or don't mind a firmer ride, but I'm not one of them.

I hear ya. I have adjusters and backed off the compression to make them more road friendly.

Ive run icon and fox coilovers for 15 years now. They are significantly stiffer than stock since they are designed to hit ruts at 40 mph. If they handled like oem on the street, they would be useless at speed offroad.

lets be honest 99.99999% of their customers do not drive fast enough offroad to push the shocks to that level.

Spend some time reading about the difference between progressive and digressive, then decide which will suit your off-road driving needs best. Because Kings and Icons are different.

I have King and love them.

I can comment about icons. Ive had them for 10 years, they ride stiffer, however they corner better without a sway bar than the oe setup with front sway bar…trade offs

I do both daily driving and off road so when I got Kings with adjusters, I had them tuned by Accurune. The daily driving is smooth as silk and then I adjust to firmer when wheeling.

I believe you, I just don’t want to mess with them anymore. I’ve already spent more money than I should have. I’m going to return my Tundra to stock then trade it in for a new 2022 TRD Pro Tundra and be done.

I have to wait until my account is 30 days old to sell anything so I’ll just post up everything on OfferUp and FB Market Place.

Ah, that makes sense if you’re gonna get a ‘22. Mine is paid off so I’m going to ride it until it dies, which shouldn’t be for some time.

Should be Kings vs Fox. Either/or.

Look at accutune's comparison pages between the two and pick your poison.

V Leds under dash and seats foot well lighting. TRD pro head lights and grille. Full AJT dash kit
All aftermarket shocks will at some point leak and need repaired. As Sunnier said, do some background work as both are different. I have had ICONS for 2.5 years now and no leaks or issues at all.

All depends on many factors which shocks are better excluding build quality, some are built better. I have had my king shocks for 4 years no problems then I had 1 rear shock leaking but I think it’s because I didn’t put shock boots to protect the shaft and it was pitted from rocks hitting them on constant high speed desert driving. I had them rebuilt at king and they’re good to go.

For those of you running kings, how often are you rebuilding them and what is that process like?

I have to admit I haven't had my Kings long enough to need to rebuild them. I did have King pull them apart and remove some spacers. That was $75 and a week off the truck. I think rebuilds run $150-200. The down time is the thing. But a shock shop can do it quick if you have one by you. And, you can do it yourself. YouTube. Reservoir shocks are easier I hear.

I'm sure Icons are good shocks but I wouldn't know as I run Kings on my Tacoma and 4Runner and have zero complaints. They ride great on road, soak up everthing off road and rebuilds are reletivly simple. But most importantly their customer service is top notch.

I attend a lot of SCORE and Best Of The Desert off road races throughout the year and I'd say atleast 75% of the rigs, regardless of class, are running Kings.
