Hey guys, just received the backflip x4s for 2021 pro crew max. It’s been a nightmare to instal! I’ve installed other bak covers with no issues but this one, I’m just wondering if they sent me the wrong cover or something?

I have the deck rail system, removed them, and put on the new rail with the S brackets they provided. First issue- once the cover is put on the securely fastened rails, the tailgate won’t clear the cover, and it’s not even close the tailgate won’t even come close to closing. It’s like the weight of the cover causes the rails to sag. It’s not even close. Second issue, the cover should sit exactly at the end of the bulkhead, however it doesn’t. I have to slide it all the way up so it’s touching the cab.

I just took it off and it’s sitting my garage. Am I do something wrong? No idea how, you can’t really mess this up. The parts only go on one way.

Sounds like they sent you the wrong one. Like you said, it's kind of idiot proof as the parts only go on one way (unless you have it upside down)

Sorry OP your going through this…I had some similar issues.

Maybe post some pictures and I will try to explain how I fixed that sagging.

My rails sagged so bad that the cover would not even lock into the rail. And BakFlip was virtually useless in helping. I had to get hard rubber stripping and attached it to the bed where the rail goes. Use a level and DON’T over tighten the brackets to the bed. I know BakFlip sends rubber spacers but the didn’t work at all. As far as the gate not closing check the front spacing…maybe it’s too far back?

Hope this helps and if it doesn’t sorry for wasting your time.

I absolutely detest BakFlips products now …it’s a shame because I owned great products and had great customer service from them in the past.

Thanks for this tip. Yea I got it on, however i have to slam the tailgate to get it to shut and I can’t get it to lock if the tailgate is up. I have to first lock it, then close the tailgate. What a pos and never again. I’d be curious to see more details on how you fixed yours.

Update, ripped this piece of junk off and put it back in the box. The rails are just not supporting the weight of the cover which causes the rails the to sag which means the tailgate won’t close. What a waste of $1,000 and time. I’m going to call them Monday and they better take this POS back.
