Just learned that one of the rear shocks is blown. Mechanic said the shocks are like $678 each from local Toyota dealer. I’ve found them for $450 each or so through other dealers but that’s still a lot of money to replace both. (Just replaced brakes and tires recently. Ouch.) Wondering if there’s a better price out there. Could I replace with regular shocks and just leave the ride control disconnected?

I had a 2012 platinum and now have a 2016. I think only the front shocks adjust the dampening. I replaced the rear shocks with oem, but there is no electrical connection. Simple job, they just bolt on like regular shocks.

Now that I think about it, it was a while ago. I’ll have to go and look I don’t remember if there is an electrical connection on the rear too.

Just looked, there is an electrical connection, but it is not a difficult job. They just bolt on like regular shocks and then plug in. Just expensive. I got mine from McGeorge Toyota online. Hope this helps.
