These last few weeks have been ROUGH to say the least. Three weeks ago, I let my brother borrow my truck. While going down the interstate, there was a small pile up and he ended up rear ending another car. No big deal, accidents happen and no one was hurt. Crumpled the hood a bit, dented the bumper, broke tabs on the grille, broke my light bar and probably a few other parts that the body shop will find.

Last week at the gym, I smashed my big toe, middle toe and the one next to it from a weighted plate dropped from chest height :frusty:. While I don't think they are broken, my foot looks like Mr Deed's black foot at the moment.

To top it all off, yesterday after getting some groceries, some young girl decided to turn in front of me while I was going down the road and to avoid an accident, I had to swerve off the road, over the curb and almost into a Burger King. I had the brakes to the floor but she wasn't going to get shut down in time. It was either smash into her, smash into deputy's car or end up on the side walk which is what happened. The deputy turned around and she took off. Since there wasn't any 'damage' to either vehicle, he said there isn't much they can do. He thanked me for not hitting her, him or the burger king lol. I got the truck up on the lift today and nothing appears to be broken or bent, just out of alignment.

I was the red line, she was the yellow and the Deputy was the blue box. As you can see, I had no other choice.

I'm going to cash out on the insurance part from the accident and take it in for an alignment today. I didn't post a picture of my foot because one, who wants to see someone's foot, and two, who wants to see one that's black, blue and grey lol. I was able to bend the bumper back out pretty decently so I could remount my license plate and looking at it, I will probably just leave it as since it doesn't look too bad. I found a used hood at the salvage yard and will decide if I am going to fix the grille. Fingers crossed, the alignment comes out ok as well. WHAT A WEEK!

Did insurance wanna total it? Or just took cash instead of factory replacement?

That's the great thing about our FGTs, they can take a lot of abuse.

Try doing that with a 2022 Tundra and it's probably $10K in damages with all the radiators/intercoolers, expensive sensors and plastic facade up front.

...and don't worry, things will get better.

Sorry to hear ... the Good news is you got your 3 in roll out of the way and you're a live and the truck is still in one piece. Hope all the repairs work out good.

No total. It wasn't that much damage to even come close but I decided to do the repairs myself since they were minor. We had to bend the bumper back out to remount the license plate and it actually doesn't look bad at all. I'll replace the hood and fix the grille later.

Well sort of. A gun I have been wanting for awhile now finally came in stock so I snagged it. Should have it next week so that makes me feel better. Now I can run around the house yelling "COOOOORAAALLLL!" (Walking Dead reference).

Ain't that truth. I doubt she was a day older than 16 but since she didn't stop, I'll never know lol!

Good news - Alignment came out great. Tech noted nothing was bent and everything felt tight. Still sucks but obviously could have been a lot worse.

Looks like you swerved ahead of or in front of her. If so, could you not just take a fast right? Maybe not, I obviously don't know all the circumstances. Just a thought. Had similar occurance in a 1 ton flatbed and I took a right at 45 mph.

Hard to say. Picture obviously is quite to scale but I had already locked the brakes and a hard right would have put into on coming traffic that was waiting at the light. IIRC, there was a car in the turn lane to my right so that wasn’t an option either.

You are more forgiving than me. When I drive another person's car I'm EXTRA careful. Last thing I want to do is damage theirs. I guess staying angry at him won't do much good though. I hope he's at least paying your deductible.

He did and made it 100% right. He is extra careful too but accidents do happen. I’m glad it was this truck and not my other on both instances.
