Sorry, cant turn the headlight off with the blinkers running, but i got the biggest longest blinkers cyclegear had to offer. The stock incandescent blinkers are pristine. They might end up on the white bike, but for $50 minus a discount, the only better blinkers i coulda gotten would be trucker lights. I plan to abuse this bike. I know shes only 14, so i’ll be gentle at first, but shes getting knobbies, aux fuel tanks, way overloaded, and maybe a chain conversion and 21” front wheel (and brakes like the mortals use) But i did have to change to a led flasher.


So post up your non tundra project as if parts of your life dont revolve around the alter of toyota.

Been effing around with this “cheap Chinese diesel heater” for far to long, luckily they are cheap enough I got two for parts!

Having issues with it igniting properly due to a weak trolling motor, then had issues with the pump priming properly, which I then switched to smaller harder fuel line, weird right. But I think I may have fouled up the glow plug or atomizer screen from flooding…..
it was also super windy today during test sessions so I wonder if that contributed to my issue.

thats pretty cool, i grew up with kerosene heaters that looked like jet engines, but now i have a hobostove with an exhaust superheater and this year it might get extra heatsinks, but it runs on the carcasses of summer plants. I’ll post it when i set it up.

but this thing you’ve posted. Ive never seen such a thing. Is it cool enough to be made of fancy plastic? Warm things up with a small propane torch before starting it?

This thing is a knock off of a 1200-2000$ Russian heater apparently. All the videos are great because it’s almost always UK or Aussie people, or like super thick pikey accents, lots of caravans and boats use them. You just need a good 12v battery and diesel, people say other fuel types but diesel is the easiest and cheapest.
No blow torching required, it just starts and goes, or it should……
Supposedly the cheap ones need a power wire upgrade due to the glow plug amp draw, a fuel line upgrade to a smaller rigid line(absorbs the pulses of the dosing pump) but I went ahead and moved the pump low as possible so the air bubbles that naturally form thru cavitation will travel and be pushed easier, also put the pump as close as possible to the heater inlet

 

Is there a piston combusting the diesel, or is it more/less rocketing? Where the heat from the old stuff is burning the new stuff? Lots of oils will do that. Electric heaters are like 100% efficient. Use your diesel fuel to make electricity for all kinds of things.

but i get it. I think for a diesel heater i’d want the fuel, combustion chamber, and pump warm. But i have absolutely no idea. But @Outbound might?

Diesel is good stuff. It holds it own better than this ethanol nonsense. Doesnt have quite the energy density of gas, but almost anything built to run diesel pressures can run lean AF without melting pistons. If im up in an hour, my swap of the day is gonna be a diesel.

 

Im sorry, but i found your craigslist ad for those, lusted over the idea of an SHO powered ranger chassis inside a taurus body AND with a ranger body, but i needed a softer motorcycle more. Forgive me, for i am part human. I tried talking my brother and dad into it, but dad was worried about cancer, and my brother is about as much of a car guy as anyone who drives a duramax… and when you show pics i feel the potential. Dont let those go yet.

A bit off topic, but electricity is a terribly inefficient way to generate heat. True, it's 100% efficient because it doesn't need to be vented, but you'll burn more than double the amount of fuel to create the electricity than you would if you simply burned the diesel for heat.

 

There's no cancer on the 1st 2 cars; both are from Cali. The 3rd has a tiny bit under the gas cap, and some underneath, but NOTHING like what I've seen around here.

For being from Indiana it's not near as bad as I was expecting. The subfame bolts came out with no issue, as did the motor mounts. The only kinda rusty bits I see are the suspension pieces.

 

Never hurts to keep stuff warm.

 

The Sportster is getting chrome lower fork sliders, Magnum Sterling Chromite II clutch, throttle and idle cables and front upper and lower brake lines. Also installing a Progressive Suspensions 1" fork lowering kit and Progressive Suspensions 412 series 1" lowering shocks on the rear.

yessir. But the ranger is such an awful little truck. I mean fine for a yard truck, but not comfortable enough to do real work to.

I cleaned it up, fixed the fuel filter and loaned it to my brother for a work truck.

 

I ordered a couple things for the bike today. Side tank grips can wait; them bitches spensive.

 

Is that so your legs and body can grip the tank better? Basically stepping up your kegel game?

 

this was my go-to for the white bike, but my stand doesnt fit the yellow bike.

ive got the stuff to do an oil change, but have to cobble a stand that will hold the bike upright.

 

Lol. Yeah, it also protects the tank from scratches. My fat ass is scratching the tank everytime I tuck or pop the clutch too much.

 

I got the front and rear stand thingys awhile back, but haven't used them yet. I need to change my oil and do my chain. Maybe clean the wheels good. The shitty thing is, I can't use the stands on the gf's shadow. Rear pipes are in the way and the front shocks are too high.

And all I've been doing is work on the yard and deck since my wife tore into me. One of these days I'll get to finishing the rack for the GX. I might make a wood burning stove too. Seems like good insurance if I can vent it.

 

What kind of stove? Like indoor or outdoor? I’m a huge pyro and fire pit enthusiast………
I went camping where fires weren’t allowed due to wild fires, I had a huge fire in my backyard the night before I left so I could smell like smoke on the trip.
I’ve also got a pot belly outside that I need to put a new stack on……

 

I've got some bananas growing. Really late in the season so this will get interesting. I anticipate they may ne ripe by Thanksgiving at this rate, they are growing fast under the skin of this heart. The rest of my jungle has been posted a few times.


I dropped a few new plants into my tank last week. Hoping they do well. The dark ones that look like weeds are bolbitus, they were grown out of water so I expect them to shrivel and melt, then come back. The bright ones are java fern, all the rest are anubias varieties.


The two beetles have been posted as well. I'm gathering parts for the oval window for now, planning to start that project after Halloween.

Meanwhile I'm going to turn this barbie looking bike jnto something real cool. Going to stop the paint to metal, prime it, paint layers of brown/orange/blue then distress it so the frame looks rusted. I'm leaving the mild rust patina on all the chrome and metalic parts. I'll swap the tires, pedals, and seat for black ones (of course) and slap some grips on. May leave the white cables or trade for black ones. Going to give this to my brother in law when its done, I'll ride it a few days first of course.

 

Indoor stove. I want to plumb it into the house because we don't have a chimney and lose power it seems like 1-4 days every winter now. I have a generator and an electric heater, but I like wood as a backup. If we lose power for more than 2 days I'd like to know I could call my pops over and install some chimney pipe and heat the house more or less. I don't have room for a stove really, but I'll make some room if I'm left without power for days and it's in the teens. I want to make a little wood stove anyway. It would work well in 2-3 years when we move anyway.

The plan was to move and build a place maybe like a metal building and live in it while we build the house and then use it as a shop. It that's the case I'll need a wood stove I'm sure.

I made an ammo can fireplace for going to the desert and heating some soup or whatever with style. I need to get a real burner for it though. It eventually burns around and catches the venturi on fire. Not exactly what I'd call comforting. I'll probably just do a single burner for a camp stove in there or something. No idea where my picture of it went though!

 

I like making little hobo-stoves.

 

I kind of want to make one. That's cool. Reminds me of a rocket stove my buddy made from a large about 4-5" square tube.

 

Yea, rocket stoves. Ive been collecting bits to make a bigger one, but i seem to have lost my 6” hole saw.
