    I got this magnet:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-1-Neody...270021?hash=item28213bf7c5:g:vi4AAOSw4shX-9Zf

and placed it behind the front console under the vent. I had to take the stereo off to get access:
    IMG_3829.jpg

I used velcro to stick it in there.

Then I got these metal plates:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/4X-Replacem...417192?hash=item5b25377c28:g:DSQAAOSwqfNXlVGP

attached it to my phone and voila! Phone mount like it's never there. I actually got this idea from the 370Z forums which I had been using for a year with no issues to my phone. I have to find a soft padding for the back of my phone to avoid scratching the front console.

It's my first time to post a DIY so please be nice.

    That's nice!
With a strong magnet like that it doesn't affect the gps internal components on the phone?

I used N45 for the Z and never had issues. I just finished doing this install tonight and will find out tomorrow if this stronger magnet N52 will have issues.

Wow great idea and great work! I especially like how it sits flush with the dash rather than sticking out on a bulky mount. Another idea for the mod bank lol

Keep us posted! But definitely a clean job!
Maybe a thin-ish case can help alleviate the strength of the magnet if it does cause any issues.

GPS working fine still. I got the stronger magnet because of the thickness of the velcro + plastic console. If I would do it again, I would get the round magnet as with the square shape, it's hard to keep the phone in landscape (horizontal) position.

Nice! A good quality 3M clear vinyl protective film cut to shape would protect the dash and wouldn't be very noticeable.

    Just a thought.

Easy. The only tool I needed was a 10mm socket with extension to remove the 4 bolts that was holding the stereo. There are two panels that you have remove first but they just pop out. First is the panel around the stick and the other one is with the A/C knobs. There should be a couple of DiYs here on how to remove the stereo.

That's exactly where my radar detector cord rubs LOL and there is some slight wear marks.

That's funny because I put some 3M clear tape where my left knee rubs the silver on the door panel, it started to wear through on the edge slightly.

Great mod Gibski, i just got done with mine and one for the wife on the passenger side. I did install some 3M skid tape to protect the paint and a get a little more bite on the phone. A thin 1/16 pice of foam on dash would help alot for phones without case.

Awe man, that's how I wanted mine to look. I have an 07 though and doesn't have that nice clean dash real a state.

I use a magnet also, but its not invisible and magical like that one.

I'm seriously kinda jealous.. Damn that's sweet.

Is that what the 2016+ Tundra dashes look like? That’s a big ass screen!? I thought Toyota sucked at Tech after this whole F150 thread! LOL!!
And very nice work OP! That’s super clean!!

I tried to find the least invasive phone mount and I think this forum recommended this one. Pretty simple, and it rotates and angles. For the less-motivated people like me! LOL! :D

I have a 2wd so I took the coin holder out (where the 4x4 switch is on the 2nd gen) cut it, and bonded a magic mount to it and reinstalled. Im a dental lab tech so I used clear acrylic.
