What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Exhaust is weird like that. I just fiddled with my helmholtz until I had no drone. I totally get the try something and see and then try something else routine. I want a different muffler, but I'm scared I'll start from step 1 with the resonator haha. Having a drone free or almost drone free exhaust is like a nice riding suspension. When you have it, it's hard to have anything else.

My truck rides like a caddy and my jeep station wagon rides like an old truck. Go figure I don't drive the jeep. I really like your exhaust setup though. Very cool.

 

Hit the hood and grill surround with an AIO, polished the grill insert. Totally tell I need to do the black on the bumper again but ran outta time.

 

Are you missing two push pins in the top above the coil?

 

They are “optional”
I have to drill holes for them, so that will happen another day, and I’ll need one more push pin, I mangled one readjusting

 

Alright cool. I ordered a set of these myself was curious what to expect.

 

They sit ok as is, I was just busy and slapped them on in between doing other stuff.
Also, the logo goes to the rear facing out, with the weird flap in front of the shock tower, I took me a couple times of going back and forth to get it correct

 

Going to see if I can tackle the cowl leak tomorrow. I’m sick of that passenger side wet carpet when it rains. I should be able to grab new clips from the dealer, I hope. Seems like they are only $1.50/each. Hoping my bumper gets delivered tomorrow too. I’m still yet undecided on the chrome delete plan. I def want to do my mirror caps and I’m removing the chrome from the rear bumper when I install my tough country. But lukewarm now on the badges.

 

It has some cancer up front, at some point that needs repair. It may have more elsewhere that I haven't identified yet. I'm hoping to keep its patina and all the character it has earned over the last +/-70 years. I'm going to go through it, new brakes, brake cylinders, clutch, etc. Then I will build a motor up, nothing crazy but probably a 1776cc with a mild cam. Anything wild would only cause this car to disintegrate. It will be a street cruiser. Its a Frankenstein, body says late 53, pan says 55, doors are somewhere between 56-62. Current motor is a single port 1600 out of maybe a 68.

You can build a baja pretty cheap, except these days finding a solid beetle to build from isn't as cheap as it used to be. My best friend drives his 68 baja daily and he runs that thing through fire roads and such every day. There it is with his gasser el camino project. That was a clean car until somebody pulled out jn front of him and destroyed the front end, frame was bent badly. He kept it and cut the front off, fabbed frame from the firewall forward.

 

Dealer had to order those clips for my 01. Came in next day. Theres only 1 or 2 that have to be replaced to stop the leak. I had 4 or 5 that were slightly broken so I just replaced all the broken ones for good measure.

 

I think the battery has shit the bed in the V6. Went to start it after use two days in a row, and went zero dark 30. Full pitch black.

Jumped it off with Stanley jump pack. Running OK, but the volt guage is slightly dancing. I have a new Toyota Alt on standby, and am coming up on TB/WP on it too. Never ends.

Was going to pressure wash pants, and shirts I wore when I was working on crackie!



Stanley jump pack also featured as I suspected something was amiss earlier.

Yea -- called. They have to order them. Will be here tomorrow. How many are there in total? I was just going to replace them all. I ordered 8. Prob. should have looked first lol.

 

Just getting caught up after several days away - sounds like power steering pump to me. Classic. Check fluid level lately?

You don't need to replace all unless you want to. I bought a shitload of them to replace all, but ... only replaced that one, pre-emptively.

Great video. I just painted my cowl, but going back and adding some RTV-ish stuff to prevent a future leak.

 

Finished my two tire wifey system. Pretty stoked to try it out. Fills and deflates if needed

 

Raised my coilovers again and changed both my oil and trans fluid. One of the nuts for my skidplate that's tacked to the inside of the frame busted off, but luckily I can get a crescent wrench on to hold it.

its damn near mandatory. Muffled beetles are an affront.

 

My beetles don't follow California laws. They're age exempt, the old one is old enough not to have seatbelts even.

I'm gonna order up a header for it soon, just have to decide which one but I like the "sidewinder" style. Its basically long tubes, about 8" more primary pipe than standard headers. I do have a big stinger I can run. I'm planning the side winder with the smallest Spintech muffler though, just to prevent rasp.

Truck looks great but with those blacked out headlights, the halos stand out too much and all I see is this.

 

I'll take that as a compliment. I don't think clear would've looked good on my truck either

 

I did a bad thing.... I ordered some D2s g5 projectors, turbine shrouds, switchback front halos, and rgb demon eyes. Something about amber demon eyes just sounds cool as hell.

I guess I'll have to take my TRD etched h1 projectors and try to make a small enclosure for them. I think two h1 bi xenon projectors in my grill or in my bumper would make some awesome auxillary lights. I just need to figure out how to make that enclosure and I will have cheap H1 lighting at my fingertips without tearing a headlight apart. If I can do that it would be sweet for my Jeep and maybe even on my wife's gx. The GX has nice lighting, but it could always be better!

That was the idea. I was thinking some pvc tubes or a metal enclosure to make a pod out of a projector. High/low hid fog lights would be sweet.
