Contemplating selling my 2001 4x4 Access cab. Wanting to buy a newer truck, but in no hurry to buy a newer one. I was holding out on the new Tundra, but I really don't care for the new look. I've got a Ridgeline that is my daily driver, so the Tundra doesn't get used all that often.

Anyway, looking for input on what it may be worth. It has 241K miles. When I bought it a year ago, I changed the timing belt, radiator, water pump, coolant hoses, harmonic balancer, and alternator. I also had the hood repainted and the fenders and doors re-cleared...so the truck looks really good. It drives fine, needs rear tires and maybe new rotors as it squeaks when you back up. Its an SR5, so it has a cloth interior. With used truck prices where they are today, I figure it is worth $8500, but I wanted to get your inputs. I'm in the southern US (where there is no rust on the frame).

I think price depends on interior condition as much as exterior, and would love a shot of underneath, engine bay, interior to see how it's optioned too.

But some questions, since you're one state over and I know someone that's actively looking right now who I'd be happy to drive to you if the price is right (as long as you're not in Memphis or Dyersburg or something - are you TN central, or NE/NW/SE/SE?):

    Is the 4WD fully functional?
Was the paint due to accident?
Salvage title, or is title clean?
Any known water leaks for rear corners or floorboards?

    Consider me an 'interested party'.

If the truck is clean inside and free of rust, I think you are in the right ball park. Might try to start at $9200 and see how many bites you get. Then after 4-7 days tweak it if needed.

I'd say ask $10,000 and see what happens. You'll get lowballed either way.

Yep, that is true. No matter what price I put on it someone will offer me a ridiculously low price without ever seeing the truck.

I'd be shocked if there isn't rust on the bed under that drop-in liner after 20 years and 250k miles.

Be shocked! I took out the Bedliner earlier this year and the bed was absolutely pristine! Looked like it did when it was new.

Nice! Must have been garaged. I’d say keep it for whenever you need a real truck.

I find that very hard to believe. All removable bedliners shift in place and wear down the clearcoat over time. There may be no rust, but I cannot believe it's pristine.

I don't believe your dishonest, its just some people have a very open interpretation of "pristine"

Good luck in getting what you ask for regardless.

Mine is same. Mint under the liner, couple of rub spots, nothing down to bare-bare metal. Original OEM liner still installed. No clearcoat on my truck, it's single stage paint. Previous owner parked outdoors on a slope, bed never collected water. Paint was horrible when I got it, so I know the PO wasn't waxing or sealing it.

Plastic bed liners get a bad wrap, and spray-in liner products get too much credit, they're not as problem-free as some like to claim. If this truck spent its whole life parked on a reverse angle as-shown, where water can puddle in the deep end because the drain is clogged, yes, rust will eventually happen, I'm sure.

    But yeah.

I have the silver sky similar to the OP and that typically produces the white residue from the rubbing on the clearcoat. Never really bad enough to eat through rhe paint, but there's almost always wearing on the clearcoat when any sort of play exists in the liner. Only way to prevent that would be somehow securing the liner so its stuck to a fixed position.

Based on OP's pre-painted photos from another thread, it looks like that color may have more issues with clearcoat failure than the salsa red and metallic green trucks..

I'm not a fan of the SR Pendaliner units, the ones I've had felt a little waffly, can't tell if OP's has the same provisions on his Pendaliner as the Perma-Guard liner my truck came with. It's got pretty stout provisions, a fixed slot, to hold a 2x6 or 2x8 about 2ft from the tailgate and 2ft from the rear cab wall. Keeping a slightly-long board in both positions not only cuts down on nose, but also prevents the plastic liner from shifting left/right and tucks firmly under the rails with provisions that don't let it move front/back, the rear tiedown hooks also prevent movement nicely. I'm using a 2x4 currently, slightly oversized, not so much it causes rubbing or flexing, but not small enough it's loose in the slot.

@shifty` It definitely looks like mine which is OEM from the factory. That one in particular definitely shifts front to back at least an inch causing the wear over time.

Mine has a PendaLiner installation. I do recall when I removed it earlier this year (because I wanted to see what shape the bed was in), there was (and still is) a thin piece of black foam (1/8 inch) separating the bottom of the bed liner and the bed of the truck. I figure this is what has kept the bed of the truck from scratching/wearing, etc...

Precisely what I was thinking. Any good guy with a half of brain would pad the surface during installation. Sometimes things are done right!
