Why is the new double cab back seat leg room so tiny now?

 

The crewmax looks smaller to.

Theres really isn’t anything that impresses me about the new gen.

 

I guess they had to make it tighter to squeeze it on the land cruiser SUV frame

 

So is this guy pictured 5' 4 or 6' 4...it matters

 

He 6 2. Looks about like the taco crew back seat.

 

If I scoot my front seats all the way back, there’s not a lot of room for a big guy in the back. But if I keep them a few clicks forward, it gives that extra few inches for the knees.

 

Sorry, but it shouldn't be much bigger than that. It's really only for storage or small children. If you need more room you shouldn't be getting the DC.

 

Exact same thing for the 2nd gen double cab. That's why I made the switch to the CM.

 

I think the availability of a 6.5 ft bed with the crew cab will alleviate this predicament some.

Seems like a lot of what drove current 2 and 2.5 gen owners to DCs was either the extra bed space or less need for a cavernous cab, or a combination of the two.

I do agree that this new DC is not realistic for anyone back there on road trips besides children, but I think the new crew cab with the 6.5 bed combines the utility of both configurations. Of course at the expense of a truck that probably doesn't fit in your garage and is more unwieldy in parking lots.

 

If the crew max had a 6.5 ft bed, toyota would sell zero DC’s.

They really messed up, it clearly needs bigger seats with laser beams attached

 

The front end on the new 3rd gen looks a lot longer than than the current 2.5 gen. That extra space had to come out of somewhere...

 

Currently own a very spacious crew cab, 5'-7" bed Nissan Titan. We needed the space back when we were starting a family. Now the cab seems too big and the bed seems too short.

The DC will work fine for us, the wife is small, she can have her seat most of the way forward and the seat behind her should be plenty for our teenager.

I think it was mentioned in that video that the seats were all the way back.

We could even get by with a CM and 6.5 bed, but I like that Toyota allows a lot of flexibility with options for the CM, I was looking at Nissan trucks and if you don't select Crew Cab AND short bed, you can't really select any options. If you choose a King Cab, no options. If you choose a Crew Cab long bed, no options.
Toyota is doing it right.

 

That back seat looks like a rear facing car seat would be a problem. Shouldnt be that way on a full size truck.

 

Even CM is smaller

 

There really isnt anything a laser beam cannot fix.

 

Yeah the current CM could have a 7ft guy back there no problem or complaints.

 

Well at least the nose is two foot longer

You guys are right a 6’2 person is going to be cramped sitting behind a 6’2 driver. Good eyes.

If 6’2” and the front seat is all the way back, they just kill all the taller guys market…

 

god, that is amazingly awesome.

 

I'm 6'2 and I don't have my front seat all the way back when driving. More around 3/4. I could still drive it comfortably with even less. And it leaves a pretty decent amount of room in the rear in my DC.

 

BS, the front seats are behind the B pillar. With the pedestrian crash structure upfront maybe a small bit of cabin is gone. Wait 4 the "specs" 2 come out.

 

I thought the same thing when viewing the video today. It's a smaller cab.
