Anybody know how to run new speaker wire through this (see photos)? There is a TT how-to vid but on the ‘21, Toyota placed a single wire right in the middle of the harness.

I’m only replacing a coaxial speaker in the rear door. So if drilling isn’t an option what wires do I use?

My rear doors have both factory tweeter and woofer.

    Thanks in advance.

You’re better off simply tapping into the wire before it enters the plug. Remove the door panel and locate the speaker wire colors at the plug. They should be the same at the plug.

You can carefully drill all the way through the connector. I did it in both my 2013 and 2020. Let me see if I can find the pics of it.

Found my pic that I was referring to. You can drill all the way through to the other side. Start with a smaller hole and then work up to a hole big enough for the speaker wire to pass through. Just take your time and make sure the harness is out of the way on the door hinge side.

Tundra234, you sir are a life saver!

If I understand correctly, you drilled a smaller pilot hole first, then drilled with the final diameter drill bit.

There’s just so little room for error that I wanted to post.

    I will try this tomorrow.

That is correct. Just take your time and once you get the pilot hole, you will feel more comfortable doing it.

Thanks for the advice @Tundra234. I drilled through the harnesses and was able to run both speaker wires and put the rubber grommets back on.

What size of wire is that?

I used 16 gauge speaker wire from Crutchfield. But, you also need to account for the thickness of the coating on the speaker wire. There’s not alot of room to go too big.

Edit: Forgot to say…Use a new drill bit and go slow.
