What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Got these mounted to test. Ended up rotating the bracket 90 degrees and bolting them with a larger stainless fender washer into the inner bumper holes. It's an OK solution, but I think the fog blanks will work out better once I get them. But again, at least I can check the cutoff and the light quality this evening.

 

Do it! I just got my cheapo chinesium fog lights and I'll snap a pic tonight if I can. There's animals that need spot lighting tonight I'm sure.

 

Good advice. I have a longer brake line, I think its 2 feet long. I didn't think about the parking brake, that might take some consideration.

I can't recall what my full extension was, I know my 5100s are around 3" shorter than my leaf springs can go. Those are 22.4" at full extension and I think my Fox 11" are 27". I'll have to be careful where I place the lower tabs.

 

ABS module. You'll notice the 4 brake lines from the MC on driver side over to it.

There's some controller I don't recognize with a heatsink, I was curious about that when cleaning. I think the bulbous other reservoir you're mentioning is PS fluid. I don't recall seeing the PS res on the front of the engine, so I presume that's what it is. Fluid is the right color. I probably should ranger both PS and brake res soon, purge and bleed later.

I mean, you could fit plenty over on the passenger side already, without moving anything. Extra battery, air compressor, whatever.

Yeah, I wiped it down with a damp cloth a few months ago after spring camping season and haven't had a lot of rain this summer for some reason. Entering fall season again, so wanted to get it all treated.

I've seen some pretty nasty/filthy engine bays on here, believe me. In all honesty, the foaming degreaser is overkill. You can make one hell of a difference just watering down and using a bucket of regular car wash suds and a long-bristle short handle brush. Modern engines like these are super water-resilient, you don't need to remove neg battery cable, you don't need to cover anything. Just a water hose, bucket of soapy water and you're most of the way there. The $20-40 engine bay cleaning products are a joke.

 

Thanks, I may try to give it a cleanup, mines is diiiiirty. I miss her, absence makes the heart grow fond. Hard deadline of 10/23 for my sliders appointment so the next parts dropoff on Tuesday (with the mishimoto radiator) might be my last trip up there before picking her up for real.

Just curious. Can't find how they're used for our trucks. Maybe on other 2UZ models?

seeing the stock air tube just looks messy to me now with the airaid. LOL.. i need to detail my engine bay soon.

 

i believe the unused shit was used on the lexus trucks. and those provisions on the fire wall are what use to hold an vacuum pipe on trucks with the canister under the hood

 

I am thoroughly impressed with my chinesium lights. I'll have to mount them next week and do an on vehicle test. I used one to look for some coons that were making a ruckus down by the river.

Those holes are used on the Lexus gx470. The ones on the right by the brake booster hold the plastic cover

I do think they look nice. I forget what the rails looked like on my truck? Did the long beds come with plastic rail caps? I had my truck linex'd immediately after purchasing and can't really remember.

I do like those rings though, classy and stealth. Glad to see them get some new life. They probably sat for 10 years in a plastic bag.

 

I had open holes before lol.

I left the hole covers that are included with the plastic rails off. Mine is an AC so only used 4 of them, I'm going to use the other two on my fathers F150 if we can.

 

Started unbolting everything for my 320cc injector replacement. Just need to blow off some more dust before relieving fuel pressure and taking off rails. Have all new Toyota crush washers and injector seals ready. What I'm not looking forward to is dropping the tank for pump replacement. Ughh.

 

Only accomplished two things on the Tundra today...

My bad, i thought i posted this in here. Last week in new braunfels @ 2am on my way to pasadena, tx i clipped a deer. I couldnt find the deer, and there wasnt any blood on the truck aside from small spots near the steps, but i hurt her.



Used a ratchet strap and a concrete filled pole to get the bumper off the tire, and the warhammer to fold the edge in, so if it rubs its not cutting.

Shopping tube and plate bumpers, but would like to find someone willing to fab one up if i make doodles. But thats what i did to my tundra last wednesday. Sucks.

Got a quote back from Alcan spring for new leaf packs. Thinking of pulling the trigger in a few weeks. Going to go for a 1” lift over stock and +200 lbs over stock. Getting my whole front end redone next week so will go from there. Went to Lowe’s and grabbed a longer 3/8” bolt and 1/2 nylon spacer and remounted the Bajas. I like this better than the side mount.

 

Thats almost exactly what I got, I went 1.5" over stock and 300lbs.

 

How do you you like them? Since I purchased this truck with 176k or so on the Odometer, I don't really have any sense of how it was new. I suspect I will notice a giant difference when I get the front end done. It has blown quick struts in there now, and and the LCA cams are seized up. Doing the OME coilovers with 2885 springs in front and matching OME rear shocks in back. OEM LBJs, LCAs, and SPC UCAs. Plus extended sway bar links and outer tie rods while they are in there. I don't have a topper on there now, but plan on adding one as soon as I can find one locally. Plan on just building it out for camping, biking etc. I think 300lbs will be enough. I need to measure everything once the lift kit goes in there and then make some decisions. I'm assuming the ride quality with the Alcans is pretty awesome?

 

It is. When I bought this truck it was all stock around 50k miles. I had put coilovers and upper arms on the front pretty quickly and the rear was rigid compared to the front. Once I had installed the Alcan the rear felt stable but not rigid. On the road I could feel the front end working and the rear end following. It is sturdy enough to throw stuff in the bed but flexible enough to not buck around off road even when empty. I still need to set up a proper shock on the rear end but even with 5100s the Alcan feel a lot better than stock.

Something I didn't expect was in rainy conditions I have better traction. I assume since they are more progressive they don't let the tires spin as much as the stiffer stock springs did.

 

New lower ball joints for the sequoia, and crawled back out from under with a laundry list of shit to do. Basically a front end re-build like the tundra

installed my spidertrax wheel spacers on the tundra. And some black lug nuts I’ve had forever




*truck desperately needs a bath, and now that I’m off call (been on the last 2 weeks) it’s suppose to set into raining. Also still running flare less, kinda want to put em on, but kinda don’t lol

 

Didn’t scrub before, for sure scrub now. I guess I’ll do some pinch weld modifying next weekend

 

I just put on Alcans built to 1 inch with 200 pounds. I rebuilt the whole front like you are talking about but with 5100s and OME 2885 springs. I have only had them about a month but like @Darkness said they ride great loaded and unloaded.

 

Thank you. This has been an expensive month for the truck. Might as well go all in. I love the ADSs that @Cummins3500 has too. Just couldn’t swing that and didn’t want to wait 3 months or so.
