Since I bought my first vehicle with a USB port in 2013, I've kept low profile USB sticks loaded with music plugged into my vehicles all the time. Having issues with it in my '21 Tundra though. Can't get it to recognize the USB stick in most cases.

Anyone else do this? Any issues?

I do the same and did not have any recognition issues taking it out of my Honda and plugging it into the Tundra. It does act a little erratic at times, as sometimes when I start it up it will just epeat one song until I tell it not too, other times it is in random shuffle (all) mode as desired.

I had a similar issue. Copied all the songs to desktop computer. Did a slow format on USB.
Copied songs back to USB. Problem solved for me.

Double check that the USB stick is the right "type" and that the formatting method is one the truck is compatible with. You should have a multimedia manual with those details. I think it has to be USB 2 (not 3). Can't remember offhand which formatting methods are acceptable.
