Making the right decision

Sup guys,
Here's my lady as she sits now stock and in all her glory, 2015 silver sky platinum.
So I've been researching, reading and trying to learn as much info before making my decision on what to do.
I would like to lift/ level (3/1) add fender flares and tires with a slight offset with abviously thicker/bigger tires. The only problem I foresee happening is ride quality, rubbing and hacking, modifying skid plate and plastic pieces to make tires fit. <---This I don't want to do.
Figured I'd post this question and hope I can pick your vast knowledge to get the right info as to what I can and should do. What is the right set up (lift height, tire and wheel size) to achieve what I want?

 

Look at @matluth's build in the 2nd gen builds forum, his sounds pretty close to what you want to do. To get what you want, you're likely going to have to accept the foregone conclusion of needing to trim and massage some plastic, along with maybe a CMC. That ain't nothin but a thang man. And generally if you do a 3/1 with coilovers, in all likelihood you'll have a better ride than stock.

 

Coilovers will increase ride quality in most cases....offset of the wheels will determine how much cutting you'll have to do with bigger tires.

Honestly, cutting and trimming really isn't going to affect anything on your truck as far as performance or safety wise. Ain't no thang but a chicken wang!

 

I'm in the same boat. I've gone back and forth on several lift options as well as wheel offset. I have the flares and not sure if I should for +1 or -12.

 

Here's the formula that worked for me.

- Bilstein 5100s on all 4 corners.
- Fronts on top setting.
- Two ⅜" shims on each side in the front.
- +2 coach builder shackles on rear
- BFG KO2's @ 285/65R20 on factory rims.
- Diff drop
- Carrier bearing drop
- TRD rear sway-bar.
- Firestone airbags with onboard auto-leveling compressor.

I have 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers which I haven't installed yet, to widen the stance.

I would say ride quality and handling are better than factory and ever-so-slightly firmer. No cutting, no rubbing, alignment in spec.

 

If you want to add flares, your offset will cause some rubbing. Either that or you're going to have some dinky small tires.

 

@Evigil You have already seen pics of my Tundra ... Again, I'm leveled 3/1 (on Toytec spacers and blocks ... Not the way a lot would recommend. But has worked fine for me on paved roads without any noticeable loss in ride quality). My wheel and tire combo is 20"x9" +20 offset on Toyo OC ATII's 295/60/20 and the only mods I had to do was remove the flaps on the fronts and put some heat on the front liner to massage them abit for clearance. I have no rubbing on the cab mount (if you want I can provide pics showing how close I am to it). Recently I added my Bushwackers pocket style flares and the only issue I have had is wether or not I'm happy with how flush the tires are to the flares. As of right now the outer edge of the tires sits pretty even with them.


I have recently ordered up a set of 1" Bora spacers which will push my offset to about a -5 and will see how that looks and will determine if I will need to do the chop. I expect them to arrive tomorrow and should have them on by the weekend. I'll be sure to let you know how that goes ...
