I looked at a lot of pictures of various diamondback covers, and it seems as if many do NOT have the spring loaded cab panel lock.

Which got me thinking, the only reason I can think of why they would make it spring loaded (and it’s spring loaded to remain closed), is to prevent accidental opening while driving, which could be very bad at highway speeds and your cab panel flies open.

Anyone have any other reasons, I’m still not convinced that it isn’t a mistake from DB, unless more people can chime in with the same spring setup as mine and @Toekneewin, which is spring loaded cab panel lock, non-spring loaded tailgate panel lock.

Just finished up a custom bed rack that I made using the stake hole brackets from an old ladder rack I had laying around, bent aluminum and some 80/20 extrusion. It will allow me to mount a roof rack cargo box, bikes, traction boards, water storage, you name it. There is 4 inches of clearance between the tonneau cover and the bottom of the rack so I can still roll the cover back. The whole thing bolts on easily so I can remove it for larger loads if need be (dirtbikes, ATV’s, larger house items, etc.). Really loving how modular it is because of the 80/20 and the ease of taking it on and off.
