No way I 'm going to try and loosen the block drain valves on a 1/2 million mile engine to flush the coolant. How effective is draining from the oil cooler coolant hose on the left side of the engine. I going by the thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/where-is-the-block-coolant-drain.58585/ post #3. Does this only drain the left side of the block? I can't imagine there is some internal divider between the left and right side, but then, why are there drain valves on both sides?

The coolant passages are low enough in the V shaped configuration that you can't directly drain both sides of the engine without removal and turning it upside down.

Well, unless you roll your truck over. o_O

The oil cooler method does pretty well, at least it did on my 2006 a couple of weeks ago. You could pour off the drained coolant in gallon jugs to verify you have most of it.

Just use the drains on the sides of the block?

    I’ve never had them seized…
