I can tell you that mine get covered in mud during hunting season and start having retraction problems to the fully closed position. They have to be cleaned and lubricated regularly. I like the look and function, but wouldn't get them again. They were part of my purchase package from the dealer, so they are on my truck until they die.

Thats all the info I need on them. I seen a decked out jeep with them last week and thought maybe they were submersible, but that sounds like theyre more trouble than they are worth if you dont keep them on the pavement. Ill buy them some gift cards to the climbing gym and let them get some practice in. appreciate the info.

Well guess I’ll find out in November for the trip I’m doing. Just depends on the water level for the crossing. If they break then I’ll just throw on my old nerf bars

Water shouldn't really hurt a 12vdc motor, as long as you don't try to run it while its wet. The rest of the electronics though...

Driving through water after a heavy rain ruined my drinker's side motor, they replaced it under warranty though. Water wasn't even over the curb, but at speed was enough to get into the housing.

Thats good to know. I like the idea, just wished someone would cater to offroaders.

^^^ this was the death of mine. Great addition to a pavement pounder.
But for anybody doing truck shit, definitely not a good addition. Imo

Plenty fine for the mall dweller. These things are not off-road friendly. They can have problems with just washing the truck. No way I would use them again.

my father in law has the amp rock sliders on his rubicon and his first trip with them he ripped the passenger step off. They replaced it but still. Don’t want to worry about that.

Absolutely not. At least they seem to have a very good warranty.
