What makes you angry?

I have that same exact experience all the time. Think they do it intentionally to reset the clock that tracks their performance.

 

The worst part is they act all offended if I say I have to go to a meeting or don't respond because I'm busy. Some of us work for a living!

 

When people spell my name wrong in an email. Its not a hard name to spell, its 4 letters. Plus, you addressed it to me and my name is literally my email address. If you don't pick up on details like that, don't send me your problems.

Bonus: when people throw a "blah blah blah" into a story. Like "she said we have to draft new docs and blah blah blah". Did she really say blah blah blah? Or did she say something you didn't retain? Or did she only say you need new docs and you want to make a complaint sound bigger than it is? I don't need any extras in the story, no time to hear useless embellishments.

I had help respond to me up about a simple issue every few days. It was as if every time he asked me a question and I responded, he saw a squirrel and remembered me 2 days later. It went on for 2 weeks. The last day I heard from him he asked me a question and I told him scroll up in the chat, I've answered that twice. He said "sorry, its Monday"

motherfawker its Monday but this started 2 weeks ago!

He never did fix the issue.

 

What's worse is when IT takes over my computer and doesn't warn me. More than a few times I lost pages and pages of recorded data because I didn't get a chance to save the data. That pisses me off to no end.

 

I gotta laugh, I'm tier3-4 support for our group. I design and support LAN/WLAN and WANs. I really hate calling our helpdesk also. There's things I don't have permissions (nor want permissions) so have to call them from time to time. They're manned by entry level geeks who all they have to do is follow a flow chart. I know, I helped design it! What's worse is the 20 veteran entry level geeks. Really, you been doing tier1 "reboot your computer and call me back (hopefully some other phone jockey will pick it up)" for 20 years?

Got this one guy who tries to do tier2 or 3 troubleshooting and will sit on a ticket for 3 days going back and forth like you said. Customer gets pissed off and gets an escalation and I grab the ticket and fix it in 2 minutes because it's a known issue. All he had to do is triage the ticket and send it to my group...noooo.

 

They always have to ask permission to connect and then I have to say yes to granting them control.

I always forget to unhide my task bar so that throws them for a loop for a while. It's not like I put it on the side or something weird like that...

 

I can't count the number of times I've gotten a completely different name than mine over the course of my life.

 

Both of my neighbors cut their grass into the street and leave it. I have no F-ing clue why. If they cut counter clockwise for two passes not a single blade of grass would hit the road. Instead these morons blow everything they can in the road.

This might be petty of me, but I get out my leaf blower and blow all the grass into their driveways. You would think after 3 straight weeks of doing this they would get the hint. I guess you can't fix stupid

 

Couldn't agree more! I have people spell both my first and last name wrong all the time. I will even tell them S-H-A-W-N R-O-E and they will type it in SEAN ROWE and then tell me I am not in their system. Just blatant stupidity

 

IT, (MIS), does ask for permission now after I bitched to the Corp Metrology head about losing 6 or more hours of recorded
data. IT got nipped in the bud straight away. Time lost is $ lost. I now save my data several times while doing a calibration. Just....in...case....

When I worked at a different office I called help desk once to tell them my monitor was on fire. I exaggerated slightly, smoke was coming out of it which was cause for alarm but no flames. The guy asked me to turn it off and unplug it. I had already done that. He said he will send a new monitor to me.

An hour later I saw the ticket with his summary, I printed it and pinned it to my cubicle.

"Caller advised his monitor was on fire. I advised caller to unplug his monitor and stop using it, caller did the same"

 

I'm one of those weirdos who keeps the task bar up top. Throws them off every single time.

 

I’m ambidextrous with my computer mice. Run a left and a right. The latest systems account for that when the Tech remotes into your computer, but for years the right handers would get all tweaked when the mouse buttons were reversed.

 

I use my mouse with my left hand at work but I don't swap the buttons.

 

As do I. I was on a project back in the 90s that was slow to get going, so my team had Minesweeper contests to fill the time. It messed up my right hand for mousing, so I switched (and stopped playing the stupid game).

 

Being lied to - particularly when it’s “family”

Thought I was doing something nice for my sister recently- helping her out and giving her a helping hand in a real estate deal.

Turns out I was set up and lied to - told me the boyfriend wasn’t moving in with her - and his kids were not living with him…both lies.

So I’m short I wound up giving this freeloading POS and his teenage kids a free place to live - courtesy of her.

Oh and BTW - she proceeds to take 100% of our deceased mothers stuff - despite me promising several of moms friends odds and ends - they stop out to get them only to find the stuff gone and sold on FB Marketplace. Turns out my sister has been cashing in on everything while she could. Keep in mind she had no use for the stuff - but rather than see someone who could use it get it for free she decided to start a virtual flea market and unload it (technically it was to be divided 50/50 after estate settled - I simply said pick what you want to keep and I would divide out my share….instead she moved in and took it all). Sad she basically mooched off my parents for more than a decade but could t be bothered to help when they needed it - but was right there to grab whatever she could carry following the funeral.

Cannot wait to be done with this idiot and have her out of my life for good. Just sucks I can never really go “home” again without having her around. I give it 3 years till she is broke and the BF moves on - hate to see t happen but won’t be mom and dad available to bail her out this time and the free housing will be over when she inevitably mortgages and loses this one.

 

I was concerned my aunt might do something similar to our family when my grandmother passes but luckily my grandmother is selling her house and most of her stuff to move into a retirement home.

 

Oh man, yes this. My last name is consistently misspelled and mispronounced, also four letters long. Two consonants, two vowels, you just read my last name, there is no pronunciation involved. Then they give you the excuse "Well I'm not good with foreign names." I feel like saying, "unless your name is Running Bear or some shit, then you have a foreign name too."

 

There's nothing like family...both in love and war. I'd be a ball of rage...

 

Yea - nothing like death to bring out the worst in people - and the greed.

Getting things in writing means nothing - people gonna people no matter what.

It’s just rough knowing both my parents didn’t exactly grow up “well off” - my moms family definitely had it worse than dads - but neither were even middle class. We hit the damn lotto it feels like at times and my parents never had a chance to spend down their nest egg either - so both me and my sister got a nice chunk of change.

It’s knowing we got so much that infuriated me even more when it comes to this little stuff. I mean seriously- someone gives you a freaking house free and clear and you want to steal a toaster ??!!?? Just be happy with the windfall and buy your own.

Started with dad and his guns - when he passed mom of course had no use and asked us to split them - I simply said the 2 I was interested in and if sis was ok with me taking my pick of those 2, she could have the other 6. She agreed and I told mom I wanted 1 to be offered to dads cousin - who was in poor health…it was my great grandfather’s (dad and his cousins grandfather) and I knew he would appreciate the gesture - only condition was I asked it to be returned upon his passing - but wanted him to hold on to it for a while knowing there were some good memories there. My sister “borrowed” it from mom and said she was taking it to him - of course never found it’s way there I find out after dads cousin passed. Ask sis where is it - oh, I forgot…I’ll give it to you next time I see you. Of course she disappears when I come to town. I’m guessing she still has it (hopefully not pawned).

It got worse recently though - moms cousin asked for a small statue - come to find out it was their grandmothers who raised them and always sat on her mantle. Ugly ass little thing worth maybe $10 - but hey, it means something to her and that family never had much to start with - so any connection to the old days is valuable to her. Asked my sister what happened to it as mom always kept it packed well in a closet - first she says she has it and will get it for me “later” I say no thanks - learned my lesson and I’m getting it now…then she says it broke. Oddly 2 weeks later dipshit post photo to FB with it visible in the background. Just makes me sick that someone is so damn greedy that they have to hold something for no better reason than someone else wants it - so they in turn want it. If she never heard the story she’d have sold it at a yard sale for a dollar.

But yea - can’t wait to get her out of my life. Lied about the boyfriend living with her to me (was staying rent free in a house I owned - I told her plainly I don’t care if he lives there - but if he is, your paying rent. It’s one thing to help out family scraping by - but 2 incomes should easily be able to pay rent and utilities) Oddly - 2 days after we make a deal that gives her the house - she’s posting photos of his kid and talking about first day of school. Funny as he “supposedly” was living 180 miles away and the kid with his mom 200 miles away. I find it odd how they managed to it only move in together but register the kid for school and get him in within 48 freaking hours.

Now I gotta scramble to get any and everything I might ever want out of the house - supposed to transfer in January….it’s been made clear it’s hers - I just want to be done with it so I’ll clear out and then sign the paperwork and make it clear don’t call me or send another bill - they are all yours from this moment forward.

 

I know - I mean in one way, I really feel like I have 0 to complain about - I literally am handed a fully funded retirement before I hit 50 - and already had saved some on my own.

Of course I am made to feel like I’m doing something wrong by daring to enjoy some of it - my “poor” sister is younger and pissed away everything she has been given - works only when she needs $$ and in general drinks and smokes what she is given. Tired of watching it be squandered - last BF was a true piece of white trash, but at least no kids to take care of. Lived with him for 9 months - till he winds up in ICU - literally calls me on a Monday asking for my truck to haul all his crap out of the house because she is booting him while he’s in the hospital…then calls Friday bawling how he passed away and how much she loved him.

3 weeks later - the latest POS and her start dating - fast forward 4 months and mom passes unexpectedly - within days the BF is now around a lot more frequently and I suspect moving in…she denied it - but the timeline stinks awful bad.

 

@Shamrock92 thats hard man. I have a sister who is very similar.

 

Go to put some new groceries away in the fridge. All the small packages are stacked in the “tall” areas of the fridge. Lots of room in the short shelves, but I gotta rearrange everything to put away the milk someone so desperately needed.

 

Ugh. Friggen IT. They pissed me off last shift. I rarely need to print anything at work, but finally last shift I needed to. Go to do so and it won't let me connect to the office printer. Need admin privileges to add the printer. Fuck. Off. Seriously!? Fine. Send request to IT.

I work 14 on, 7 off. I sent the request on day 6 of my last shift. When I left for days off, I still hadn't heard back. I go back to work on Monday. We'll see if they've responded. If not, it'll be 2+ weeks for what should be a 30 second job that shouldn't need to be done in the first place.

Some days I kind of miss being on the tools. At least then I could hit things with a hammer if they pissed me off.

 

Listening to a seller piss and moan to me about “low ballers” and then when I offer $600 on an item offered at $700 with no takers after a week - having him bitch that I’m low balling him.

I just told him how it was - item in “used” condition is worth $250-300 - his had a complete restoration done to it that typically would cost about $400 ( he said he paid 475 - but that included shipping both ways too)

So take a 250-300 item, add a 400 service to it and use it 6 months and expect to not lose a cent…nah, I think I was fairly generous at 600. Oh well - not like a one of a kind or something rare - just nice when I don’t have to buy off evil bay and pay shipping / have a chance to test before I buy. At least figured he’d counter at 650 and try to meet me.

Hate sellers who have no idea of what they have - but expect too $$ with no negotiation - ditto buyers who expect 75% off because they are “cash” buyers - as if the majority of people are trading eggs and farm goods for things .

 

That sucks man. I have family that's the same way. It's a shame.

 

I’ll gladly trade you for the neighbours down my street that shovel snow from their sidewalk and driveway into the middle of the street. I don’t really care when I’m in the Tundra, but it sucks trying to run over 16-18” windrows of snow in a car.

One night last winter after a couple beers I walked down and shovelled it all back across the driveway, because bylaw enforcement won’t do a damn thing. It still happened again…

 

That is absolutely terrible. I haven’t lived with these neighbors during a winter yet so we will see. If they shovel their snow into the road I will lose it on them
