Hey, no shame in doing what's best for the family! I tried talking my wife into a minivan, but she refused and slapped me in the face.

We've had the 2011 Sienna for ten years now. It was my favorite car to drive. 90 MPH cruising with one hand on the wheel. Driving like that I still averaged over 20 MPG. It was the best road tripping family car that we ever had. It has never had any problems. The only maintenance that I've done is the oil changes, tires, brakes, struts and a belt. But last year I did get my Tundra. My daughter asked me what my dream car is and I was able to say "my truck". "Oh what a feeling"

Arent you over payload with that box of stamps in the truck... the wagan would probably suit you better for haluling such a load.

I see you found a unicorn. Hold on to her buddy. In fact, you should give her a massage with hot oil tonight, put on the Barry White, candles, and a monster energy drink. You’re gonna need it.

The Woman said the same thing, no minivans allowed in our family. She flat out refuses to drive one. A Highlander would be as close as we ever get, but she'll probably end up with a RAV4

My wife really wanted a 4Runner, but she agreed that a Highlander was a better choice with the kids, so that's what we ended up with.

Let it be settled in your heart that sacrificing your tundra dreams for the sake of your family is far greater than the truck itself. Yeah, in an ideal world you could afford both but most of us don’t live in an ideal world. There’s plenty of guys riding around in “cool” trucks, but there’s not as many men who put their families first. God willing, when your children are old enough to realize the sacrifice you made, that will not just impact their view of what it is to be a father but your grandchildrens’ view, as well.

I love the minivan. Not yelling “watch your doors” every time you are forced to park next to another vehicle is glorious.

And when I have to haul something that will put the tundra over payload…I can just grab the Sienna keys and know that it can handle the load safely.

You are doing an honorable thing and there is nothing wrong with that.

My wife loved her 4Runner but when our second child arrived, things got harder for her with the ride height and no power lift gate. So I tried to talk her into getting a Highlander. At the end, she was right so we got a 21 Sienna. I talked her into an XSE and she loves it. I’ll be honest I enjoy it too and often find myself now on SiennaChat looking at mods. :spending:

We did the same thing, we had 2 boys under 5 at the time and the mini van was the right choice. It was easy for us to get them in and out of the car seats, plus it provided room for the stroller and the 1000 other items of shit we didn’t need. I loved the passenger side camera underneath the mirror that popped up when you were making a right turn and the gas mileage! Wish the tundra had that camera.
Remember it’s not for life at some point you can trade it in like we did and get your tundra.

I drive the Tundra, my wife drives the hybrid Sienna (36mpg combined with 7 passengers, not a typo). She pulls 600miles+ per tank. Since it’s a hybrid, it’s also our part time camper.

People get all in their feelings about SUVs vs minivan, station wagon vs crossover. Those designations are all in your head. They run the same chassis and engines as their “suv” cousins. The new Sienna and Highlander are the same vehicle, one is just more spacious than the other (hint, the 3rd row on the Highlander is useless by comparison).

I also appreciate not having to open and close doors for kids. Think about all the times with kids you have to let them in and out, make sure fingers don’t get pinched, etc. Slider doors with pinch sensors take care of that problem.

While gassing up the 124 Abarth, a newish Odyssey pulled up to the pump beside me. The stereotypical family inside. Starbucks cups in the cupholders, late twenties to early thirties and even the two kids. One girl, one boy. The girl was older, you know, to let everyone know the wife was kind enough to allow her hubby a second chance at having a son. Mr. Henpecked was gawking all over the 124 which isn't a car seen that often and asked what it cost. My answer? "About 2/3 or what your Honda cost." pissed off the wife and last I heard was her saying in a stern voice, "IT'S TIME TO GO"!

You're not wrong. Fotunately, we're unlikely to ever buy a Highlander so we're safe. :D
