New Member with another lift question

Just purchased a new to me 2018 Tundra Limited edition with 52,000 miles. About a 1,000 miles ago the previous owner installed a cheap ZY 3” leveling kit on the front and nothing on the rear. He gave me the 2” blocks for the rear that I don’t plan to use. At the same time he installed 35x12.5x20s on the factory 20” wheels. It currently sits 1” higher in the front. I really like the look but would prefer it to be level or 1” higher in the rear. I would like to keep the wheel and tire combo on it while installing a higher quality suspension that will ride well and last. The truck will be used mostly around town, riding around the family orchard and farm, gravel/dirt roads, and towing a utility trailer with a UTV during hunting season and possibly a medium sized camper in the future. No serious off-roading is in the plans. I’m a bit overwhelmed at the options, looking to stay around $2,000-2,500 with install if possible. I don’t want to go any higher than 3 or 4” in the front. What would be my best setup for the front and rear? Also, the truck has the TRD Off-road sticker on it but these look like standard shocks to me.

Most economical and common seems to be Bilstein 5100s (backordered everywhere right now), front bilsteins set to 3rd position (approx. 2.2 in lift), and a 1" block/spacer in the rear. Should be able to get the bilsteins all around and the block done for 700ish. There are better ways to go about it (shackles instead of spacer in rear) etc. If your willing to use that 2k+ you mentioned, yes there are alot of options. Toytec has some awesome stuff, they are an approved vendor here on the forum, and I've personally bought from them and was very pleased. Maybe check out some options there. Coachbuilder is another approved vendor, and they have some nice heavy duty shackles you should check out. As for the sticker, its probably legit, that strut looks like oem bilsteins that came off my trd offroad (08).

If I had your budget, personally I'd be eyeballing the toytec ultimate complete lift set, the OME lift set, and maybe the ICON stage 1/2 sets. Thats just me. Also be aware if you go more than 3" in the front you'll probably need a set of UCAs.

Gravy, thank you for all the info! It’s one of those things I just want to have installed and not regret a year or two from now. From all the googling I’ve done in the last 24 hours it seems Toytec is a really good option. This isn’t my daily driver, but I want it to be dependable and satisfying when I need it so I’m willing to splurge a bit.

 

Well, joining this forum is a good way to make splurging a habit!
I went through some headaches with my suspension, but I'm finally in a happy place (for the moment) with mine. If I had to do it again, I'd pick a set from Toytec and have a trusted shop put them on. You've got a good budget for a nice lift/level, you can pretty much get anything that isnt enthusiast level suspension.

Best advice, figure out exactly what you want for your stance. I "waffled" about what I was going to do with my Tundie, and it cost me some hundreds that I didn't need to spend.

 

I feel like I’ve gained a bit of wisdom over my last few vehicles purchases and I’m hoping to do this one right. We’ll see about that! Haha. I’m just glad the previous owner already set me up with new tires that I probably would have picked out anyways. I have a local shop in mind that has great reviews. They actually list Toytec as a brand they use so it’s perfect. It may just be a waiting game now if I can get the kit on order through them.

 

Alot of suspension is on backorder everywhere. Toytec does have some stock, one of the 2 suppliers in the country that I could find that had my OME coils in stock. I hope they have whatever you decide to get!

I’ve made decisions on my suspension upgrade. Thanks to Gravy, David at Coachbuilder, and Anthony at Toytec. Also everyone else who has shown up in my many searches over the last few days. Here is the list of what I have chosen. I went over my budget by quite a bit but that’s how it goes!

Here is what I have ordered, I had to order some things at different sites due to availability:

Toytec Aluma Series Boss Kit with Front and Rear DuroBump Bump Stops, Front Diff Drop, Toytec Progressive Add a Leaf Kit

BDS Upper Control Arms

Coachbuilder +1” Shackle, Steering Kit, Carrier Bearing Drop, 1/2” Shim for driver side coilover, 1.25” Bora Wheel Spacers

This should I give me close to an inch of rake which was recommended for my needs. I’ll be sure to post pictures once everything arrives and is installed.

 

I would definitely like to see the process.

Finally received all the parts and had them installed this past week. I have zero complaints about anything so far. The truck handles and feels much better. Also the stance is exactly what I had in mind.

Here is a list of parts I went with:

-Toytec Aluma 2.5 Series Boss Suspension System
-Toytec Front Diff Drop
-Toytec Progressive 3 Leaf Add a Leaf Kit
-Front and Rear DuroBump Bump Stops
-BDS Upper Control Arms
-Coachbuilder +1” Shackle
-Coachbuilder Steering Kit
-Coachbuilder Carrier Bearing Drop
-Coachbuilder 1/2” Shim for driver side coilover to fix “tundra lean”
-Bora Wheel Spacers 1.25”

Truck is sitting on factory Limited 20” Wheels and Thunderer Ranger ATR 35x12.5x20 Tires. I had it aligned yesterday with no issues.

They removed the front mud flaps but did not have to perform the body mount chop. From there the only rubbing was on the front fender plastics at full lock which I just molded with a heat gun and round piece of steel until there was a 1/4” gap or so.

 

I went with toytech 3in and jba uca super happy with results rear just did the eibach and drop spindle sits very even

 

Here are is a pic from before and also a pic from before with a 6x12 Aluminum Trailer connected with a midsized UTV on it. I’ll post an after pic with the trailer and UTV connected when I get a chance.

The BDS upper control arms are awesome, but they need to work on their packaging! I had to touch a few places of paint up on mine.
