Let’s see that trail rash…

If you’ve ever taken your Tundra off road, you most certainly have noticed how big these trucks are. They are beasts when it comes to how capable they are, but there is no denying that they barely fit on most 4x4 trails. It doesn’t take much more than a couple days of trekking through the woods before you end up with a bit of story telling scratched into your paint…

So without any further ado, let’s see that Tundra trail rash! Pin striping, dents, scratches, cracked headlights, the list goes on- as long as it happened off road, we want to see it!

I’m jealous! I can get my stripes pretty muted, but can never quite get entirely rid of them.

 

What do you use to buff them out?

 

You must not be dealing with Manzanita

Nothing serious on my end and can’t really tell with it being white… but my last name is Murphy and so it’s bound to happen… maybe at the BIDT race in Laughlin at the end of the month or the Mojave trail in November…. Something will happen lol

 

I'm going out on a limb.......99% of us would not see this a badge of courage. For most of us besides buying a house these are our most valuable assets. If your need to beat your way down a trail get a trail rig or a side by side. Granted things happen but not on purpose. I see no glory in trashing a new truck. That's my 2 cents.

 

happens sometimes. It’s not really a badge of honor I would say because no one wants to intentionally damage their rig, but more so, “damn this happened…" sucks at the moment but eventually something to laugh about. Unless it’s a serious matter.

We’re not talking about YOLO Send It! intentional damage. This is pinstriping and accidents from going on adventures. It is 100% a badge of courage. What’s the point in your truck sitting there in your driveway while you fret about how much resale value you’ve retained by keeping it looking like no one ever drives it?

The glory is in the time spent and the memories made out on the trail with friends and family. Those are worth far more than a depreciating asset like a vehicle.

To each their own and I do understand the opinion!

However, I own a Tundra because it can do every day life with me. Whether it’s going to work, braving blizzards, driving away from my wedding, or exploring particularly tight mountain passes, I love that I can bring it along to every adventure.
I certainly would not call trail rash a “badge of courage” but a mistake with a good memory and some superficial and repairable damage to show for it.

Yes, they may be expensive “assets” and I did just spend 8 hours pulling dents, polishing, and waxing my truck to keep it nice.
BUT, life is too short to miss out on once in a life time adventures because I was afraid to scratch a little paint

 

Ocotillos are gnarly suckers too.

The trick for pinstripes on a black truck is to never wash it. I care much more about the memories and adventures in the truck.





Stock skid keeps taking a good beating but . I sheared through one of the mounting points and added large washers and they've held up. Eventually I'll go Skid Row and get everything adequately protected.





The hammer and paint job didn't last too long, but the washers are still fine. I need to gusset the cam tabs.



This is the only body damage I have unless you count running boards. I pushed the exhaust back down and rounded it out again.

And there ain’t much that isn’t fixable with a little elbow grease and creativity

 

im down to hit ocotillo. Never been in my tundra, just in my 99 Cherokee

 

I didn’t wash the 4runner out of spite because my uncle said it was “dirty” for over a year!
