2000 ac. We got home after dark a couple nights ago and noticed a faint flashing under the driver's side dash. Investigation revealed a small, round, green bulb above the parking brake flashing. It's the first time we've noticed it in 2 years of ownership so we suspect it just started out of the blue. Can anyone identify it? Thanks guys, Marty

That sounds interesting. Never heard of that. Maybe something aftermarket?

It’s just a regular cab light that turns on when the doors are open. Its probably not pushed in all the way. It’s a T5 bulb.

I replaced mine about 2 months ago.

Its the tracking device. Pretend that you haven't noticed it! :tinfoilhat:

My tundras flashing light is blue. Part of security system. One of those things you don’t really notice.

I installed high quality foil in my headliner to block the signal years ago. Only rookies haven't done that mod.

Thanks guys, I guess the real question is who's tracking me and why? Do you know where I am right now? I'm going to hold off on the tin foil mod for now for fear that my own thoughts will bounce off of it and come back to me. Thanks for all the replies.

That's gotta be a bummer when using the parking brake. Definitely wasn't thought out when the installer was picking a location.

Sadly, it's more prevalent than ever thanks to social media and/or the internet, depending how you look at it. I need to open a tinfoil hat store, I'll make a killing!

On a serious note though...what the heck is it? There is a red LED facing front and a push button on the back. We don't have the owner's manual or key fobs. Wife's father doesn't seem to recall.

Most likely security related, possible aftermarket alarm installed. I’d follow the wiring to see where it leads to.

Start where all investigations start. Where do the wires lead you?

Maybe is brake controller cabling? Something related to security? I don't think it's OEM. Is FIL the 1st owner?

FIL is the original owner. Box is in the same spot as the original poster's (see below). I think it is disabled as it doesn't illuminate and pushing the button on the back doesn't prevent the truck from starting.
