To each his own, you're obviously of the opinion that your opinion is the only one that matters.

In all my years of owning Japanese vehicles, none have needed an extended warranty, and few even needed minor warranty work whilst under basic warranty.
Heck, when I bought my Nissan Titan 12 years ago as a cpo lease return, it came with a "no charge" 10/100k extended warranty. Never needed it.

Extended warranty is just a form of insurance. Most people don't usually need their insurance significant majority of the time but doesn't make sense not to have it. At just a few percentage points of the total price of the vehicle for me there's value as long as it's a solid company backing it just like with an insurance company. Most people will spend at least two too many times more on accessories, cosmetic modifications and mechanicals than the cost of a warranty. I hope I don't have to submit any warranty claim but if I do it won't bother me in the least.

They're much less likely after you get past any potential infant mortality issues.

If you feel it's prudent to buy an extended warranty for a brand that is traded on it's reputation as being reliable, you may as well seriously consider all the other brands of trucks (which actually need warranties) as they are usually more competitive than Toyota and generally regarded as better capabilities and efficiency too.

True, but playing the odds. This is a Tundra, not a big 3 product. This is why some put up with the outdated design and poor mpg knowing it just won’t breakdown.

So no warranty is needed since it's so reliable, but everyone on this forum is adding an external cooler to keep their transmission from detonating, lol.

I’m not adding one either. I’m just going to drive the shit out of my truck and tow what I need when I need to. I figure if the tranny is going to fail because of excessive heat, it’ll do it before the warranty runs out and I’ll get it fixed under warranty and trade it on something else.

I have exactly two years to decide whether to fix my cam shaft tower leak. That gives me two years to see what this new truck is all about.

If it's nice looking, I could see buying a black hybrid. Wife would be all in because it's a hybrid. But definitely not in 2022. Well, maybe late 2022.

Considering Toyota does majority of testing in the desert “per contributors on this site”. I would wait a minimum of 2 years for new owners to test it against heavy rain and other inclement weather situations.

Considering the diesel rumors and folks spotting the test mules in the wild, wouldn’t it be possible to get close enough to notice the smell of diesel exhaust?

You could probably also clearly hear the difference between a diesel engine, and a gasoline one - but if you wanna so stick your nose in a tail pipe, go for it.

I don't know about that, there are times when my Tundra sounds more like a diesel than the new diesels do.

Don’t think diesels make sense for a 1/2 ton pickup capabilities. The smaller diesels are not any better then the gassers.

Diesels work great in small trucks, including 1/2 tons. The rest of the world has a majority of their trucks with smaller diesels, for a reason; it works. Diesel power curve is flatter than gas engines, for one, but there are other advantages also.
I grew up with diesel Hilux, Nissan Hardbody and Isuzu KB series trucks and 90% of the owners preferred diesels. When we talk about Hilux here some people don't even realize that they are available in gas, because all discussions are about diesels, because almost all of them are diesels.

Truly curious, what makes you think this? Not trying to pick a fight. If I were only keeping my truck and trading it in once the warranty expires, I wouldn’t have added one either. I’ve always thought the vast majority of potential heat-related issues in the transmission would come after warranty. Speaking of, we’re only 3 years in on the oldest 2019 trucks.
