We are on day 5 of a 35 day vacation across the states.

Left Half Way Oregon this morning and crossed into Idaho over the Oxbow.

Drove up the Kleinschmidt Grade rd to Cuprum Idaho.

Then took a road up to the radio tower uphill from town.

The road to the tower breaks over the top, and continues on down the rolling hills toward Hell's Canyon. It's a faint jeep trail.

I went about 1K yards down the hill before the wife said she was getting out of the truck.

So I parked right there and we hiked further down for pictures.

After turning the truck around I put it into 4 low and drove up the very steep trail, with lose rock.

I took it at about 5 mph and I could not feel any tire spin whatsoever. I was rather surprised that I didn't hear or feel any slippage.

I am beyond impressed with Toyota's traction control.

My old Toyota pickup would go up anything, but the tires spun all the way :)

    Fun times.

Tomorrow we're starting on the Magruder corridor. We will take 2 days to enjoy the scenery.

Pretty sure traction control is deactivated in 4Lo.

Glad you had a good time with it, though. Got any pics to share?

ATRAC is on automatically in 4hi and 4lo unless you disable nannies.

Would love to see pics as well!

Good to know. I thought that VSC and TRAC were the only things. Didn't think they had ATRAC on the Tundra. Learned something new.

You will greatly appreciate it on Imogene. I didn't have any wheelspin at all. It senses lack of traction extremely quickly. I went right up the steepest part in heavy rain. People poo-poo the Tundra for not having a factory locker, but it's pretty awesome.

I’ve been blown away by how it is able to distribute power where it’s needed and crawl relatively effortlessly even with limited momentum. And this coming from a guy that had an FJ with an e-locker.
