02 Tundra TRD SR5 2.5" lift. What wheel offset & tire size?

Hi all. New to Tundra's. Just picked up a pretty clean and well running 02 TRD SR5 4WD Tundra. I've read many posts on combinations but not really finding anything that gives me a good idea after all.

I'll be putting a 2.5" lift (front coil overs & rear add-a-leaf). Looking at tire fitment guide, looks like no bigger than a 305/70R16, 32/11.5R16, or smaller at 285/75R16. All keeping it about +2.2~2.4" larger in diameter. I don't want to deal with rubbing and might later go with a steel off-road bumper.

Also not sure what offset I might need on the wheels. I would like it to be proportionate to the lift and definitely not looking for the "roller skater" look when people go too far with an offset and the tires stick way out of the wheel well. What all do you suggest might be the best tire size to go with a 2.5" lift?

TIRE SIZE WITH AND WITHOUT LIFT KITS:
Note: These recommendations are based on the factory wheels. Using an upgraded rim with different backspacing will allow you to increase to a wider tire.
First Gen Tundra (2000-2006)
No Lift Kit
Max tire sizes are:

• 16″ rims: 275/70 R16 – 4/10ths wider, half-inch taller than largest factory tire size
• 17″ rims: 265/70 R17 – one inch taller but same width as factory
• 17″ rims: 275/65 R17 – 4/10ths wider, half-inch taller than largest factory tire size

1.5 – 2″ Leveling Kit (or less)
When installing a leveling kit, you might be able to fit some wider tires than what we have listed. It may require some trimming though, but it is possible.
Max tire sizes are:

• 16″ rims: 265/75 R16 – one inch taller but same width as factory
• 17″ rims: 275/70 R17 – 1.5 inches taller and 4/10ths wider than factory

3″ Lift Kit
With a 3″ lift kit, the options continue to get better. However, the wider the tire, the greater the likelihood of trimming.
Max tire sizes are:

• 16″ rims: 285/75 R16 – slightly more than 2″ taller than factory, this tire is 8/10ths wider than factory as well. This width may be problematic in tight turns and/or at full suspension compression.
• 16″ rims: 265/80 R16 – an oddball size, this tire is the same width as the factory but more than 2″ taller
• 17″ rims: 285/70 R17 – slightly more than 2″ taller than factory, this tire is 8/10ths wider than factory as well. This width may be problematic in tight turns and/or at full suspension compression.

 

Thanks. Yes I saw this one. Good info. But I'm not sure if a slight offset difference on the wheel might help eliminate any rubbing if I were to go with a 285/75R16 M/T tire. Difficult to visualize.

 

285/75/16.

I have 285/75/16s with aftermarket 16x8 wheels. They have a backspacing of 4.5" which equals 0mm offset. No frame rub.

 

Right on. Is it lifted or stock? Any rubbing? So 4.5" backspacing equaling 0mm off set meaning same as the stock wheel spacing?

 

Lifted. That's been the magic number for a few of us. I believe the stock wheels have +15mm offset.

 

I am running a toytec 2.5" lift coils, 33x10.50R17, 17x8.5+0 and have zero rubbing issues.
