I’m in the same boat, my build date was July 7th but still waiting. No real details from the dealership….chip shortage basically.
I’ll ask for VIN and more info now. It’d be good to know if there is a posted delay.
My current Tundra is chillin’ in the driveway, trying not to add miles til the new one comes in.

I laughed reading this. When I want something handled I usually send my wife to do it. It has squat to do with the fact that I'm scared (honest! LOL). Rather, she worked in retail for years before we got married, and knows how to drive a deal.

 

Yep, mine was an open heart surgery nurse. Nothing scares or stresses her. While I was working she wanted to have a discussion with the company higher up and of course this would have killed my carrier lickity split. After I retired my last paycheck was supposed to be about 2+ months pay but instead got $36.00 deposited. Here, Honey. Now is your chance. Yep, she was very professional on the phone yet the next morning the full amount was in our bank.

Unfortunately this site throws up a paywall but I was able to read the San Antonio plant will be not be affected buy the recently announced slow/shutdown. Hopefully someone here can get past the paywall and post more details.

Mine is scheduled to be built three days before your original date and I've not heard of any delays from the dealer. Are some of the higher priced trucks in more demand than the poorman's SR5?

Tundra production...so far so good.

 

We've got one coming scheduled to be built Sept 18 and it's still a go according to our sales rep yesterday.

 

If you have the Toyota ap and your pre production VIN entered, will you receive a notification in the ap when your truck is built?

 

I'm wondering if the 5.7 saved us...with 2021 Tundras yet to be built?
If Toyota has an over abundance of the engines being phased out they need to used them up and Tundra and Sequoia are the only vehicles made in USA that use that motor and time is up end of 2021?
So chips are prioritized to the vehicles that use up the 5.7's ???

 

Good point. Is the Sequoia getting the twin turbo V6 for '22?

 

From everything I've read so far 5.7 is done for all US built vehicles for 2022...Tundra and Sequoia get the TTV6...??

 

I ordered a 2021 sr5 4wd crewmax 8/14/21. I got a message from the dealer 8/20/21 stating they suspended all special orders from this date on. I had to call to make sure my order was secure and still good to go and they confirmed it was. At some point they’ll quit taking orders but who knows exactly when.

 

Toyota never has taken special orders. Normally if you go to a dealer with a specific truck you want, they just find one in the pipeline that is already scheduled to be built….provided they have the allocation.

 

Had a special order 5 yrs ago and they let us know when ours was built in Japan and on its way on the ship and when it landed in California and it's progress during shipping to our dealer.
We went to the dealer with our build sheet and paid a deposit and then waited 4 months. 4 Runner TRD Pro Quicksand

 

Current sequoia will go into 2022my unchanged, 2023my sequoia will be v6.

San Antonio plant is on priority list due to new model launch, one new tundra costs 2x base rav4 and uses same amount of modules.

The plant with the new model launch getting the chips makes sense.
