We'll never see a manual transmission again.

Yeah I hate to admit it, but it makes about .00001% sense to offer a manual in 2021. Hate to say it, but just the world we live in today.

We definitely won't see a manual transmission, but I'd like a proper semi auto mode - not the current shift limiting where it takes a few seconds to upshift (downshifts are ok for timing now). Feel like that would be a good compromise for the few times I can be predictive on what gear would be best.

You must have missed the parts where he has been intentionally deceptive. He may have some good insights into things, but first and foremost, dude is just trying to grow his channel.
Of course it's going to have at least a rear locker. Why would I bet against that? My thinking has nothing to do with what he is predicting. I intentionally avoid his channel. To be fair, I avoid a lot of others as well. There is so much rehashed speculation out there.

Here's my reasoning for saying it will have at least a rear locker: the Tacomas and 4Runners that have MTS and crawl control (Trail, TRD Off Road, and TRD Pro models) all have rear lockers. There are no MTS- & crawl control-equipped Tacos or 4Rs that don't have a rear locker. Now, we've already seen in the teaser photos on Toyota's new Tundra page that it has MTS and crawl control. Thus, it's a reeeeeally safe bet that it'll have at least a rear locker.

Prediction made. And I didn't even start a clickbaitey YouTube channel and parade my credentials at the top of every single video I upload. :notsure:

Toyota stock plunged, global markets were hammered and Tokyo stocks closed at a 7-month low after the Nikkei reported that Toyota would slash global production for September by 40% from its previous outlook. The production cut - result of the pervasive global chip shortage which has crippled supply chains - will reduce Toyota's global production for September from 900,000 automobiles to 500,000.

There's a great comparison with Ford's having the 3.5 and 5.0 - check the failure rate on them. It's extremely close between them. The failures are not because of the TTV6, it's because of Ford's cost cutting and going with bottom dollar suppliers, and not having loyalty to those suppliers.

But hey, it benefits me if people believe that nonsense, because then I can get very high trade value on what will be a 6 to 7 year old truck when I'd be looking at buying the next gen hybrid.

My dealer told me today they lost 28 cars but doesn’t think the cuts will have a huge effect on trucks since they are made in TX. He said most of the shortages are coming from the over seas production.

I get your point but I think you're confusing production and demand. Their plants can only produce so much in a day, hence why they added more and created the TNGA platform.

I am not confused at all, its either a production issue or a sales issue, since the difference between July 2020 and July 2021 is 28.9%. July 2020 Tundra sales were 9,066. July 2021 Tundra sales were 6,444.

    Tundra Sales 2020/2021 Jan-July

    57,846. 2020 Jan-July
    50,309 2021. Jan-July

And throw in a Non pandemic sales year

    2019. Jan-July

Well, if the information I have been reading holds true, then those numbers match up because I was told that Toyota was more prepared compared to their competition when it comes to supply and may only be getting to the bottom of their barrel during their current production.

Either way, it's conjecture for either of us since we both don't work for Toyota financial. Was not trying to be argumentative but wanted to give you another perspective. I do concede I could be wrong.

I would say it is a combination of both, there seems to be a drop in production but it is not steep enough to really indicate a "chip issue" I would say it could be more of a normal supply chain/labor interruption than a wide scale production issue until now.

If you go to Toyota dealerships and see the lack of inventory, it gives the perception that sales are thru the roof etc, while I would agree sales are swift, the sales numbers don't really correspond with that much of a rise, they actually indicate a drop, which also indicates a production challenge.

Toyota has dealt with production challenges better than almost every other manufacturer, that is one thing that is true.

Take F150 Sales for example for those three years and you can see a clear drop that indicates to me a clear production issue

    F150
    2019 896,526
    2020 787,372
    2021 414,345

    Tundra
    2019 111,673
    2020 109,203
    2021 50,309

And just for fun we can take a look at Tacoma

    Toyota Tacoma
    2019 248,801
    2020 238,805
    2021 162,854

Again, not arguing your statement or the numbers but I was initially referring to your original reply saying that Toyota only makes so many vehicles in a month to mean that your reply to @VTYOTER about this not affecting Toyota much since they are not as much in demand. That was my takeaway from your original statement. Hence, why I referred to their creation of more production plants and the platform to reinforce the idea that if the demand is higher, then the plants are the resolve, not the pandemic supply. Every manufacturer is affected by the pandemic but if Toyota builds another plant, then they must foresee a higher demand, pandemic or not.

I believe, the comparison sales numbers are a tangential debate to what I first replied to.

If that is not what you were first meaning in your initial reply, then I apologize, I misunderstood the intent.

Probably front and rear standard on the Pro and rear standard on the Offroad. Sequoia maybe gets none because it's IRS. There is one aftermarket rear e-locker for current gen Seq so it can be done, would be very nice to have IMO, $1275 Auburn 10in Select-A-Loc Locker for 2nd Gen Sequoia – Tandem Offroad

I probably did miss any intentional deceptions, there's only a few things I'm interested in with truck Youtubes (only the nuts and bolts, don't care about infotainment or upholstery) so I hit the right arrow to skip ahead often.

Yes, Chao is a self-promoter and name-dropper but if you tap the right arrow like a machinegun you can skip through the BS. I've liked his content and TFL's more than any others and don't care if he's getting a penny per click, it's not my penny.

I love that Gear Lock and Direct Shift feature. The computer doesn't interfere provided the rpm doesn't go below 1500. More usable torque even in 6th gear. Tow/Haul mode + S mode.

I watched a video where a big wig at Nosler stated that they have invested millions to expand in order to help with demand. He also mentions that the panic buyers are hosing it all up.
