Imagine being a boiler tender down below in the Navy ships in WW2.....after a damaging hit from a Jap torpedo and you have to try to keep the ship running, water pouring in, knowing you may go down with the ship but saved your mates.....that's a boiler tender....just sayin..

My son's friend left yesterday for Great Lakes boot camp, that's going to be his job.

Great Lakes is more than boot camp. Your son's friend will be tested further to determine what will be the best fit for him and the Navy.

My coworker that just recently passed of cancer was a "squid". 52 years old. Of course he knew I was a jarhead. We ribbed each other but also respected each other. Brothers in arms. My friend was an instructor at Great Lakes for a time. He taught how to deal with possible radiation leaks on Navy nuke powered ships among other things. I miss him. I was trained at Lowry AFB here in 1979. Metrology. Still doing this. My family on both sides were either Army or Marines... Bloodline thing....just like LEO's. firefighters...BTW......you never leave anyone behind......never

Did Axl actually show up?

 

Axel finally grew up. His voice was always a bit shaky but he didn't try to sing like he was 20 something. 59 now I think. Slash was....well...Slash. Decent set. I was able to get my friend upstairs to watch Manny. She knows my social life is laughable at best.

 

We saw Axel a few years ago with his version of GNR..
It was pretty much the Axel Rose show, with him taking 3 or 4 minute breaks (hiding in an what I guess was an O2 tent) in between songs.

But he didn't disappoint..
Neither did the rest of his band, they were on point.
It may have not been GUNS AND ROSES, but least my son got to see Axel Rose perform...

 

well...i'm on the engineering side. we pretty much have company logo, name, and any required safety training stickers we had to take for all the different plants we visit

 

So I was away for a while and I came back to triple nipples and one dude with 3 nuts, pics were offered…..nope, no thanks
This then led to funny looking Tomato plants and preferred bat shit. Tom gave us a tease to what is to come, some saw cool looking rocks/minerals and then military memories. Not to forget Guns and Roses which I got to see back in their hay day 90’s when they played at Rapid City arena, cool concert. Best concert though hands down was Metallica when they toured their black album. Caught up, bitches!

 

Not sure about Axl growing up, but at least he shows up now.
I’ve seen GnR 7 times.
One being probably one of their best live shows in Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego September of 1992

This show was part of the infamous Guns N’ Roses/Metallica co-headlining tour in 1992. The tour included a 2nd Guns N’ Roses riot in Montreal after Axl walked off stage after hurting his vocal chords. The 2nd time!!

The ‘92 show was the only show of the 7 I’ve seen that he actually showed up on time and performed superbly the whole time.
The other 6, blah. Late showing up, leaving early, bitching about his agent, bitching about fans, threatening to quit the band on stage, threatening to fight pretty much anyone including band mates, security, sound guys and fans .

The ‘91 St. Louis crap was ridiculous. Axl was mad because of ... a camera. Started a fight with the whole crowd.


Slash did have his struggles with heroin, but I will say, he had more good in him than most know about.
I was fortunate to actually meet Slash in Virginia Beach, backstage at a Brother Cain concert of all places.
Some of you may remember those Birmingham boys.
I digress; Slash was super polite and actually stood and talked with me and my bud for close to 20 minutes. Needless to say, we were stoked.
Slash has given millions of dollars and time to charities.
Some of Slashes greatest riffs were with Velvet Revolver though.

That's pretty much what mine looks like now that I'm on the management side too.
But one of my incoming mini slaps is going on there for sure.
