I am wondering if I should get the transmission fluid flushed on my 2017 Tundra with 62k miles on it. It has a 4.6L engine. Any advice would be appreciated before I make a decision to have it serviced or not. Thank you in advance.

I do a drain & fill, not a flush. If you are using the truck for towing or heavy hauling, it would be a good idea to do it now (i.e. see severe service maintenance schedule). Otherwise, not required.

definitely get it serviced, but no flush, ditto the info above, just drain and fill.

In my area flushing the transmission is no longer done, at least at the mechanic shops I visited. You have the 4 magnets in pan that will hold metal particles but not wear particles from disc that should get the majority of contaminants out by changing oil. I am approaching 100k so decided on servicing as many have talked about on this site, change oil once per year. Just a thought.

From what I have seen, all of the shops have turned away from flushing transmissions due to the process loosening up debris. The popular opinion is to just drain and refill the transmission.

Thanks for all the responses and information. I will just drain and replace the transmission fluid with some of the same factory fluid. I’m assuming around 4 quarts should do it. I will make sure and add the same amount I drain.

I've got 5.7 with tow package that is supposed to take 12.3 quarts. I assume that is from completely MTY as some will remain in unit. If you have a second vehicle to get more oil at store you could drain and measure amount removed to be more accurate then go and purchase needed amount or think about purchasing the 12.3 quarts saving unused for next change.

Many changes have been made to equipment over the years and after returning from far-east first job out of military was with Caterpillar becoming a service tech that handled all, engines, hydraulics, transmissions, etc., prior to becoming shop manager but after 10 years went back to school and gave up mechanics. Anyway, thanks for the video on transmission servicing. I have the Tundra and reviewed several videos on them that is a little different than the one you forwarded but not much.
Good luck with your service work,
