I am absolutely shit scared to go to my local dealer. With good reason of course

Currently, I have a 21' Lunar rock Pro which happens to be my third Tundra.
    20210722_215118037_iOS 1.jpg
Every time I go to the the dealership there is always problem. From oil puddles to damaged wheels to greasy handprints on the leather.... A little backstory....currently I am waiting for new BBS Forged Pro wheels, why you ask?, well to make a long story short, the dealership damaged all 4 of mine.
    20210705_172644530_iOS.jpg
That is not mud and all four were damaged to some degree like that....Don't you think the service tech would notice that they're making the black part silver?

This would be the second truck that this dealer has had to replace the wheels on. Can you say impact wrench dance party?

So.....I have been waiting a few weeks for the wheels when I got the call on Monday of last week and was finally able to get my new wheels installed last Friday. Man was I pumped! Pumped until my service advisor text me pics to let me know how the install was progressing. Notice anything?
    20210813_191125555_iOS.jpg

    They are the wrong wheels!!!!

As soon as I said they were wrong they immediately jumped on the defensive - "We ordered them off your Vin, how could they be wrong?" "Is the white lettering on your wheels aftermarket?" they asked. Seriously?!?!?

So now - they need to change back to my original wheels which of course takes them the rest of the day and I get my truck back at 2 minutes before 6pm. All while dealing with the I'm sorry and this never happens and the blame game going around in circles. Awesome.

Now - I get a call on Saturday from the parts kid, that it looks like my "parts" are in. I asked him if its was the correct wheels this time and he said said he would text me a picture.
    20210814_161722917_iOS.jpg

Looks right to me. Lets set up the appointment - but wait! Only one wheel has arrived - the other 3 are MIA! - I cant make this shit up....

    So I am waiting, again......

Sorry to hear about this. Let us know what dealership this is so folks who live in that area know to go elsewhere.

I am not surprised, neither should you be. I hate dealing with inept people. 90% of them don't even have to go out of their way to prove it.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I have been doing business with my local dealer for 20 years now, typically have 2 or 3 Toyotas in the household, so I am in there for service about every other month. I have never had any significant issues.

Go get the wheels, and go somewhere else for the install. Ineptitude like that isn't going to get better.

Check the build link in my signature.

would be good to know who the dealer is.

I’ve had good luck with two of the ones I’ve used locally, and not so good with two others (hence why I kept looking till I found one I’m OK with). Still, once my warranty/free oil changes are all done I’ll be doing the rest of the stuff myself except big jobs.

I always lead the Service writer around my vehicles showing them the state of things and what I expect. With any lug centric wheel, it is important that two lugs be hand started until the wheel is flush on the hub. Then again, they shouldn't be running them up like that with a thick walled socket and rattle gun anyway.

Dealerships can be a blessing and a curse. Never had any mishaps with bad oil changes or scuffed wheels, however, I did have a similar experience with setting up an appointment to find out that the part never arrived.

Needed a wheel speed sensor for my previous 4Runner because a bunny chewed through the wire (that's a whole story in itself). Had my local dealer order the part and setup an install appointment. After showing up and waiting in the lobby for 30 minutes, they came out and told me that the sensor never showed up.

Gotta love stealerships! At least your dealer owned up to their mistakes and fixed the issues. I would take your new wheels to a dedicated tire/wheel shop!

    Too many, but not enough....
I am with you on this all the way. My 21 has a weird issue where the passenger side floor plate directly under the glove box (angled where you would put your feet) makes a popping noise like a snapple cap when you put pressure on it with your feet. I am debating if it is worth taking it to the dealer and have them possibly mess something else up or do something ridiculous like take apart the entire dash to fix it.

Sorry - thought my local was bad.

At least they are “trying” to make things right - better yet though - DONT SCREW UP TO START.

Things happen - but when the occur consecutively- it’s not coincide- it’s a trend. At a point trends should tell you something- like expecting them to change is not gonna happen.

Burn me once shame on you - burn my 6 times….

My dealership is about 1 km from my home. I'm planning on switching to the one on the extreme other end of town (~25 kms from my home) because they are so useless and sloppy. The other dealer gets very good reviews. I guess quality is worth the drive...

Yes, totally worth it. After all it is not a daily commute; only a couple/few times a year.

We have two Toyota dealers here in town; both owned by the same owner. One has a great sales department but not so good service department, and the other one has a great service department but I will never buy a vehicle from them (long story why) . So, I buy from one and service at the other one. I have always had 2 or 3 Toyotas at a time and we put a lot of miles on our vehicles so I am at the dealer about once a month for oil changes etc. and never had a bad experience.

I've noticed a lack of attention to detail from my dealership. Little nicks from removing/installing lug nuts. Then there was the guy who apparently bathed himself in oil and grease before he did my car, it was dripping oil from his hands on my hood, interior door panel and steering wheel. And he left a big glob of grease on the side step, almost like he wiped his boot with my step.
No way I'm taking my truck there to get new tires installed.

Parts guy called me today to let me know my tires came in…..wtf is wrong with these people?

I seriously cannot make this shit up.

@RusPro21 - This particular dealership changed hands a few years ago and it’s been downhill ever since. I drove 2 hours away to purchase this truck because of the shit attitude of the sales department. Once my free oil changes are up I’m never returning.

I'm afraid I may be plunging headlong into the raging waters of this same problem. Only they won't be able to replace my wheels... Prob 1 is that they're a T-Force wheel that's no longer made; and Prob 2 is that they're custom powder coated. Pics soon, but I so hope they don't touch them when I take the truck in for oil changes and other maintenance. Yes I'll tell them, no I won't provide a key for the lock, but some kid is going to sloppily put an impact socket on it before he even reads the work order and my head's going to explode. This from the dealership that scratched my paint twice in two visits; once bad enough that they had to repaint the quarterpanel, which they had to do twice because they left the clear bra on as they painted the first time, and even now the paint has pits and bubbles (barely noticeable, except by a Tundra owner).

They've been gracious about any errors, so it mitigates the anger. But not completely.

Yes, I should be doing my own oil, but I'm old and still earning, and I can pay someone. Squeeze didn't work and I'm stuck between 3rd and home.

My dealer is 60km away, the closest one at first told me ordering a pro was impossible, and gave me attitude, I made sure I went back to that dealership to show him the truck.

Yea, competency is worth the drive and my business in my book.

I’m originally from that area. Fam still lives there. My (eventual) brother-in-law, Ray, owns/operates Toyo Tech in Taylor (off Keyser Ave). He’s great. Does very good work, will never rip you off. Good man. He lifted my truck. Take your truck to him when you’re out of warranty - or before if you want. Years ago he used to work at the Toyota dealership off Route 6 near Eynon - don’t remember the name. It’s another option for in-warranty work.

AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Hate to say but the wife’s Sienna has gotten a lot of free upgrades and services due to my dealership short comings. I’ve been buying and servicing my past Tundras for 20 years now with this dealership. So with that being said.

My wife and I worked out a plan with the dealership that only the Lead Service Technician (Whom also is a good friend of mine) who mentors all the others is the only one who is authorized to work on my Tundra & my wife’s Sienna. Yes it’s in the notes at time of scheduling any services. Sad but true.
