Hey guys I’m new here I bought a 2016 tundra platinum around 2 years ago now. I love it but I’d like to start doing some work on it lifts, cold air intake, bigger wheels, I’m not sure where I should start. I want to be able to pull a trailer and take it on light off road for camping and things like that. I know it can do all that as is but I’d like to get the most I can out of it so any pointers you guys can give me im all ears especially a good starting point.

Welcome.. Fast forward two years... Toytec aluma coilovers lift kit is a great start without cutting up your cross member to achieve a solid lift and clear bigger tires. Good luck and post pics..

I’m new to the truck and the forum myself, so my suggestions are based on what I am planning and have looked into personally.

If you want to do a lift and get larger tires it makes the most sense to plan to do both at the same time. You said you need to tow and run into some light off roading. That is similar to my needs and my plan is to keep whatever lift I go with under 2 inches in the front with coilovers and 1 inch in the rear with an add a leaf.

Aesthetically the possibilities are endless. I prefer color matching the body wherever possible. Some model trims make that more expensive than others. Since you don’t have the TSS system that will make it easier if you plan to change the grille insert. If you plan to upgrade bumpers then don’t bother color matching bumper end caps.

I recently installed the Toyota bed step. Amp Research produces the step and also sells it under the Amp name. It was cheaper to buy the Toyota version, at least when I was looking for one. Some good advice that I found here and also to be true when I did the install…Just. Trim. The. Bracket. It’ll make sense if you decide to look into installing one.

What I normally do is Google search whatever I’m looking at options for and add Tundras.com to the search wording. You’ll find plenty of threads for suggestions and instructions.
