Looking for something better than bungees

Im looking for some kind of system to use with my new Charvonia Design tie downs in the bed. Bungees always stretch out and are generally a bad option imo. I was looking at Nite Ize carabiners with a locking cam. So you clip the carabiner onto the tie down then feed some 3/8 paracord through the cam and just pull it as tight as you need to. Anybody using anything like this or am I just overthinking this???

Just looking for something with a little more solid holding strength but not as much as a wratcheting strap

Friction straps. Like ratchet straps in design, but no "locking" ratchet. They hold by friction. Sold about everywhere under different names. Almost as reliable as ratchet straps, which can't be beat.

 

My friend is a fan of "the perfect bungee" which is an all rubber alternative and seem pretty good.

 

I use the nite-ize cars you are talking about to secure my kayaks. The work great. Most of the time I use a gladiator cargo net for stuff in the bed of my truck.

 

Check out Stratchits by Front Runner. I think they perfectly blend aspects of bungees and ratchet straps. Very easy to use and store.

Used these a ton over the last week while moving. Quick and easy, and the different end options give you lots of different ways to secure stuff. I've used all sorts of straps over the years and these are probably the best all-around option I've found. I have six 9-footers, four with standard hooks and two with the loop ends. They come in all sizes for just about anything, even a 40 footer if needed.

 

Check out Rok straps. They have a short "bungee" type section along with a long strap section. very easy to use, and secure loads well.

I've been using straps of this type for close to 20 years, and they are by far my favorite.

 

One nice thing about all simple cam straps (including these) is that you can roll them up into a self-secured puck when not in use

Cam straps can also be found with hooks sewn into the ends. I keep 6-8 cam straps in my rig for routine use, along with 4 heavy duty ratchets, depending on the need.
