Hello everyone, im new here, and i have seen the thread about stuck sunroof but not really help much so i want to bring it up to see if anyone has experience of fixing this issue. So it was hot 2 weeks ago and i tried to use my sunroof, and at the end of the cycle it made grinding sound, then i closed it, then tried again with tilt mode, it opened and again making grinding sound at the end of cycle. SO i tried to close it then its just dead silent. I pulled the motor and found the brushes are worn, 1 is almost gone and the other was ok so i decided to rebuilt both. after that the motor works without installing back to the system. So i installed back to its hub, press tilt mode close then it just barely move the sunroof back and forth, other than that nothing else work. Dont really want to take to dealership. Right now its stuck open in tilt mode not sliding mode thanks God, but its summer now, i have few months to fix it, any recommendation would be appreciated, any video or instruction how to get the headliner off would be very helpful too. Mine is 2013 tundra crewmax with 57k miles.

When you had the SR motor out did you clean the Tracks and re lube the ares and rails? I would try that but first recheck that is getting power an theres not a blown fuse for it. Could of been on the verge of blowing due to the load of being stuck. If thats good then do what I mentioned in the first part could off been building up with crud and caused the motor to prematurely wear.

as for a video on how to remove the headliner im not 100% theres a good one out there. but first make sure you have a set of nylon plastic trim remove tools. if your going to disconnect the bat first roll down the rear cab window.

1.) Its easier to start with removing the all the seats. 2.)Then remove all the seil panels should pop straight up with the tool. 3.) pop the covers off the seat belt holders on the bottom an unbolt the bottom holder for seat belts 4.) using a trim tool get between the seal an plastic piece that sits between front an rear door an pull/pop into the cab for both sides. 5.) the rear panel back panel theres two knobs at the top of each conner I think the were a quarter turn an pull out remove those 6.) pop the rear panel off , the rear sides 7.) remove the covers of the screws on the cab handles {I think the pop out and are on a hinge so go a head an leave em slightly attatched an take the 2 10mm bolts out of each} remove cab handles 8.) Pop the A pillers off now with tool....
At this point your 98% there I just don't have any experience with going further. But it should be the same.
9.) check tops of seat belts if the cover pops the same way or if it will get feed through the trim panel first. An panel pops off first after that
10.) pop the light covers off were the indentation is with tool , the front unit im not 100% on but if you got to motor before I'm sure you know how it comes off 11.) double check around headliner for any thing left if clear use trim tool to lower /pop any clips an should be able to slide it out the back window.

wish I could give a better write up with more info on some parts buts its all the info I have.
