I’m buying in California. Looking at a tundra 05 DC with a leer hard top on bed, limited with 198k miles, clean title, timing belt recently replaced and good service report for 10,995$

also a 05 tundra AC SR5 with 200,500 miles for 9,450 with a hard top. Curios on if paying too much and what to look out for.

    thanks in advance.

sounds like a good truck, check the usual rust however. Climb up under there, don't just glance. If the frame is solid and everything else looks good you could have a keeper

How handy are you? 200K miles isn't that scary for these trucks but you should anticipate a suspension overhaul if it's still rocking a lot of the original parts. A lot of original parts will likely need to be replaced. These trucks are demanding a premium right now so the prices you mention don't seem too high.

The McGov. used truck (and car) standard advice: look for evidence of flood damage. America had a crap pot of floods 6 years ago. MANY vehicles got insurance checks and were then bought back (cheap) and put into the secondary market. Inspect under the hood. Under the seats (including the rear ones). Look close.

If there's no evidence of flood damage and everything else checks out I hand him the 90 Benjamins. My daily driver is a 1997 Toyota T100 with 265,000 miles that runs perfect.

2.5in suspension lift (Bilstein 5100's, Icon add-a-leaf, Eibach pro springs, Camburg upper control arms, and kyb replacement tophats.) ARMA Bedliner. Trailer Braking System. Fifth wheel underbed mount plates (frame mounted) W/ through bolts in bed. Yakima Q-Towers W/ 58in Yakima round crossbars and 52in Yakima wind fairing.
I bought my 05 limited for 5500 from the original owner with close to 200k here in north california. Came with full service record, an extra set of factory limited 17"alloys with snow tires on em, a trailer brake system on it and a herculined bed. I will admit I got super lucky on my find. Those are both great deals though. 200k are these truck just starting to break in, just do your routine maintenance and maintenance by mileage and you'll be fine.

Dead stock with oem 16" starfish wheels. We'll see how long that lasts. :) Topper of unknown origin.
@Wallerjt those prices are very reasonable if the truck is in good condition. A rusty frame is a deal breaker though. I crawled under the Tundra with a ball peen hammer to "ping" the frame to see if it was solid. I'm not frame diagnostician and mine generally looked good (exposed rust on 60% of the frame and most of it looked like it was surface rust) nevertheless, hitting it with a hammer was reassuring.

Keep in mind, the Toyota standard for warranty replacement is a nickel sized hole* rusted through the frame! That's a huge variance from surface rust.

    * Correct me if I've misstated this. Morning beers affect my recall.
