Just picked up a 2021 Limited DC and am getting BF Goodrich KO2's put on later this week. Truck has under a 100 miles currently. What is a reasonable value for selling the Michelin OEM tires on FB Marketplace?

I think 400 a set would be my bottom take and if you can get any better than that....would be gravy. Check tirerack or DT and see what they are going for now in the size you have and ask about 60% of the value, maybe start out a bit high and see if you get some bites.

I would also ask the dealer you are getting the ko2s from if they may want to buy them.

I asked Les Schwab last month and they said they have a glut of them and would be pushed to pay more than $300.

All depends on location. Check out your local Craigslist. Here near Denver Metro there is usually a couple newish pull off sets for sale. $400 or $500 tops. Sometimes with rims for $600 to $800. There is a tire shortage happening and will get worse. You might want to hang on to them for a bit longer.

.....unless you put them up to sell price wise for a fast sale.
I won't mention a certain country because politics is verboten here and it does seem to get confused a lot here with geo-economics among other non political issues. This certain country has been buying up rubber plantations big time for "geo-economic positioning" . Rubber is still used as the base for tire manufacturing along with added synthetics. Same with "synthetic" oil.....I won't go beyond that "geo-economic" iteration...

The last set of tires I tried to sell I couldn't give them away. I priced them cheap and told a couple people that messaged me if they showed up they could have them for free. That was for a set of tires (and wheels) that were really only good for offroad though. I always see lots of factory takeoffs for sale with wildly varying prices there isn't as much online used demand for them. People buying factory sizes usually just go to a tire shop and buy new. It's not like selling some 35" Nittos.

I did not consider the tire shortage though, that might help sell them. I agree with pricing correctly. Sell them this week for $200 or you might wait forever to get $400.

Economic positioning lmao. I love these new buzzwords invented the tribe that holds majority control over these mega global corporations that have no national obligations to any of the places they operate in come up with every day.

I’m lucky I have a good connection with the tire owner place I deal with. I know I would not have got 800 for my Michelin’s off my 21 Pro. Only cost me a couple hundred for my Nitto’s and bigger size.

If you're buying your truck new be sure and see what kind of price the dealer will give you for aftermarket tires before you leave the lot.

I asked for a quote for (4) ST Maxx 275/70/18 installed by the dealership and they said "$650, we keep the factory tires." In my AO the Coopers would've been twice that and there's no way I would've got $650 for the now slightly used Michelins.

I did ask that and my dealership didn’t offer anything with that. At times they have good deals on tires but I paid 300 bucks less going to a local guy who’s been around forever. I also asked him about taking them in on trade also and he doesn’t do that either. From what I have read over the years on different forms in many ways the Northeast is a very different market place.

Here in NH they’ve been going around $500 and decently quick. I started looking to get off the cheap ass AT’s on my 10’ from the previous owner. Head up to mid/northern ME and they are littered with them. I NEARLY got a set with 10k miles on 20’ wheels for $500 but either I was too slow or the guy realized he priced too low. So now I’m getting a set of Hercules instead because I found ahold deal local.

Easily the most “common” set of used tires for sale in the classifieds here. Lots of ads around to give you an idea.

The good - it’s a common size - will fit a lot of other trucks.

The bad - they are still used tires and your market is limited. Winter obviously drives more buyers in states with snow - but local market conditions dictate a lot.

Used to a dealer - if you get $200 - it probably means they are making $200 over what you could pay online for the tires your buying there. Used tires are not hot sellers - and new while not a huge markup are just so much more profitable long term.

$500 seems to be the median price for a set - some people want to see them on a run so a cheap set of steel wheels from a salvage yard might be helpful. Shipping helps - but is a pain.

Best bet is be flexible - if you post at $600 and link to TireRack showing they are like a grand new - you might get lucky and get a $400 offer. If it’s local take it - if it’s within a 100 miles offer to meet for $500 and up to 250 meet half way at 500.

Shipoing tires is an absolute pain - something like $50 per tire ground from memory - that’s $200 a set and these sets are so common most people would rather pay $850-1k for Falken/Coopers or KO2 and get free shipping on tire rack than 600 shipped for a set of these used/shipped.
