Considering the icon rebounds in titanium with probably Cooper xlts or maybe the new Firestone XT in 315/70x17.

are you guys doing full size spare on same wheel or just doing the four wheels. I feel like if I only get four I’ll have to buy a fifth wheel and tire anyway since the stock spare is different tire and wheel.

I did a full size matching wheel/tire for my spare as well. Mostly due to my OCD but its also bad to drive with 2 different size tires for an extended period of time. Depending on my work schedule or location I can be hours from a tire shop that may not even have the correct replacement tire

Thanks for the thoughts. I had considered that, planning trip to big bend and I would probably do some damage to drivetrain getting out of there on a mid sized spare

I did a matching wheel and tire for my spare. Like @BroTun13 said, helps my OCD. At an absolute minimum the tire needs to be the same size, but I wanted my offset to match as well.

Yes offset is key too if you already have minimum clearance because of the larger tires

I run a matching spare. The difference in diameter from stock is bad for a diff. Especially in my case with the LSD

I did 4 when I bought my wheels and tires but am planning on adding the matching 5th at some point soon. As others mentioned, wheel offset and tire size is significantly different from stock and I’d rather not run a mismatched setup for a long period of time.

You’re talking not much of a difference in price, really, if you’re considering buying a non-matching new wheel and spare tire. It’s probably a few hundred $ for that. If i was willing to spend that much for a non-matching combo, I’d consider it well worth spending a couple hundred more for a matching one. Then you can do a five tire rotation and get more miles out of the set, and you’ll have the peace of mind of not worrying about damaging your drivetrain with differing tire sizes.

This is what I am doing, as info.

Depends if you get flats, yes if you do. I used to get flats, but since switching to load range E around 20 yrs ago, notta single flat. The spare is now vestigial and not worth coin.

What is the weight of the stock spare rim? Will it hold a full size tire?
I am trying to make this decision now. With TPMS sensors it is not as easy to do a 5 tire rotation. Same as @SSPey my number of flats was greatly reduced once I went to the 10 ply tires - and my OCD does not kick in because my head is not typically under the truck looking at the spare (which reminds me I need to check the spare on my 2008 which I did rim/tire match and have not looked at in eons). If the stock spare rim will work with a 275/70r18 tire then I will get a cheap (D load) tire to keep the cost and weight lower rather than the expensive Wildpeak AT3W.

+1, I don't remember the last time I had a flat. If I do and have to drive on the spare I will put it on the front. I tried the 5 matching tires and rims a long time ago and decided it is not worth it.

It would be an extra $700 Canadian for me for an extra rim, tire, TPMS, mounting, etc.

I opted for no 5th for that reason.

    E-rated tires for me too.

I have a full size 5th on a different wheel with same offset (Method discontinued mine). the tire matches the rest. I just had to use it last week after a car in front of me blew a tire and I caught the debres.

Go five, better yet if you can fit them to the rig six, two is one and one is none.

But seriously, piece of mind of having a matching fullsize spare that you know won’t have strange issues like fitment issues nor having to keep a set different lug nuts for the OE steelies…worth the cost…hell rotating in a fifth wheel and tire makes sure you get your money’s worth out of that 5th tire…

you could get a skinny same diameter tire on stock rim for street spare, if u go offroad get the 5th setup.

Matching 37" tire and wheel. Stays at the house unless I'm traveling more than 100 miles from the house or going into the woods. AAA for anything over 100 miles, would depend on my mood. Plug kit and OBA for anything else

I’ve thought about this as well. What about if you buy the same tire but used? Sounds like a good play to me?

In my case does it matter if I just use the spare that came with the truck if the new tires are the same size as stock but heavier like the e rated Falkens?
