Does anyone still read the paper? I'm 36, so as I grew into adulthood, papers really lost their following and influence. My family took the Kansas City Star when I was a kid, like pretty much everyone else in our area. It was a thick daily paper back in those days, with nine or ten different sections. The smallest ones were like 8-10 pages, the biggest ones, like FYI and sports, were often a lot more. Now, the Star building, which was new back then, sits vacant, overhanging I-70 downtown, while what remains of the paper is printed in Des Moines and trucked in every morning.

My favorite sections were always the comic strips and Sports, but I also got excited about the ad inserts from places like Sears and Macy's that were included with the mostly the Saturday editions. Those ad booklets had sections in them that were of great interest to a 10-15 year old boy. If you read the paper in the days before the internet, you know what I mean.

Depends. I *like* to, but honestly, it's getting harder and harder to find any papers that don't have their news dictated by some gigantic news conglomerate. I'm old enough to remember when newspapers reported *news* and not an agenda they were trying to drive.

My favorite section of the San Diego Union Tribune has to be the Local section. I like to keep abreast of situations happening around and about town.
The National news, not so much.
I'm very much interested in comics but I've found several online sources for those ~ much of which are included in the newspaper, as well.
The websites I visit make it very easy to share comics with your friends via email etc.
Newspapers are dying day by day and as Kung mentioned ~ they've become quite political in their content ~ something lots of folks disapprove of.

I used to really enjoy the Local section of the Star. Downtown KC was seeing all kinds of redevelopment in the early 2000s so it seemed like a lot was happening. In fact, looking back, that had a lot to do with developing my interest in urban planning, which is what I ultimately got my degree in.

A couple of the sports columnists I read frequently went on to become pretty well-known nationally in their arenas...Joe Posnanski and Jason Whitlock.
