    Hey yall,

Have a 2009 4x4 5.7 Flex fuel and some days at first start in the morning it take a second before the engine comes to life. Battery is good(optima).

Thinking it might be the fuel pump assembly. Truck has 168k miles. Was going to go about replacing the assembly but rockauto have pump assembles from economy 70 dollars all the way to 250 dollars.

Anyone done this or have a recommendation?

I replaced mine with a Welbro 450 when I modified my fuel system for the supercharger and bigger injectors. I would troubleshoot everything possible before dropping the tank though. It's not a bad job but it does take a little time.

Have you pressure tested fuel system? That should give you a lot of good info in making that decision.

It could be coils, spark plugs, air filter, and injectors…

Changed spark plugs and air filter.

Have yet to check coils or injectors. Also unsure how to check them honestly

thank ya kindly, I bought a bluedriver plug in with the app. It's the best/cheapest I could find at the time without stepping up to a mongoose wire and full techstream (which would be preferable to complete the ECU flash at home without having to convince the dealer and doubting if they actually did it).

Injector test: get a long screw driver put flat end on injector, handle on the ear. If it go tic tic tic it’s good, if it miss a beat injector bad.
    Coil test:

    See if it missing beat.

The fuel pump control module could also be acting up.
