At a cold start my tundra sounds fine. But after about 10 ten minutes of idling it starts making a knocking or a ticking on the drivers side. I can drive a couples miles down the road and it will disappear? The tundra is 2015 sr5 with only 54,000 miles. https://youtube.com/shorts/xscntqU32iY?feature=share

Maybe try some 5w-30 in it. But I have heard of timing chain tensioner‘s and or valve spring failures. Let’s hope you just need some thicker oil

Definitely not sounding good, what oil you been using? Sounds like some really poor lubrication.

I'd run a can of seafoam in it for thirty minutes and then drain it. Change filter, fill it up with quaker state SAE 30. See what happens. At this point you gotta do something soon.

If seafoam cleaning up and thick oil does not quiet it down, I believe it is going to require removing the valve cover to get a look.

Likely the primary timing chain tensioner on the driver side

Timing chain tensioner wasted at less than 60k? Why?? Oil change interval?

Heaver oil. Run 5w30 in the winter and up to 15w40 in the summer. Its night and day with engine noise. 0w20 is simply to comply with CAFE standards our engines can handle up to 20w50 oil.
