Wife has it on her CRV. She uses it quite often when I am in the car with her. I have never used it once though. I have never been stopped long enough to see the need for it, but I rarely ever driver her car anywhere and never have been in traffic with it.

I've had this before and while it's great for traffic lights, it would be of no use in the type of stop and go traffic I usually find myself in. I only need to work the brake most of the time since releasing the brake allows the vehicle to move enough where you don't even need the gas pedal. If I were using that system I'd have have to always use the gas to release it then jump right over to the brakes to stop a car length or two ahead.

Now full stop and go adaptive cruise control is FANTASTIC for that scenario!

Pretty sure my 2020 already has this.

Edit:. I may be thinking of something else. But my truck does not go backwards instantly when I release the brake on a hill. It holds it's spot

True, that may be the case. The controls are getting complicated now:benchpress:.

I think they should have upped the game, by making it autonomous where the truck knows when it is in snow, sand, gravel, rock, or wet and set the optimum setting.

If you search on YT for LC300 0-100kph runs, I'm seeing the new TTV6 only getting to 62mph in 7.6 secs.
That would be very disappointing, isn't the Gen 2 Tundra significantly quicker? I know it's definitely not quicker than my 2007 Titan.
Although my old truck is always plenty quick, I know many versions of F-150 are getting to 60 in 6 sec or less. I was kind of hoping this new truck would be significantly quicker than my old truck, because I know it's gonna be expensive

Ack! Electronic. Bitterness from a brake job made much more annoying than it had to be on a little Civic. How hard is it to pull up on a handle? Easier than trying to find a Honda scan tool on a Sunday;)

I don't know the typical Tundra curb weight, but I checked the curb weight of my current truck and it's the same as the heaviest last gen LC200. My point being, the Tundra and LC300 are probably very close in weight also

I must agree that the GM HD mirrors are not visually appealing on how the mirror mounts to the door. They do work great and I enjoy the power extend along with the power fold. Not sure if the camera built into the bottom created the awkward design.

His argument is a little silly(who puts their car in park at red lights?) but, the “Stop Hold” is stupid nice in traffic and in drive-thru’s.

Are you referring to the electric motor that does the electronic parking brake on civics/CRV's? If so, you don't have to use the scan tool to put it in maintenance mode to take off the rear calipers. You can use a torx bit to back the pads off after disconnecting the motor. Sorry, I know that has nothing to do with toyota or tundra -changed CRV brakes last weekend so it struck a cord

I'm sorry Toyota rules. YMMV. Saying that cuz I have owned them all. The little extras other man's provide don't mean shit. This company saves you money on a necessary thing....transportation. Their shit just lasts a long dam time. Again, YMMV

That is awesome to have the opportunity to own all of them? What was your favorite? My money is on the 4th gen Supra. If that is not your favorite I would still be curious to see what you thought of that car? Any pics of that awesome Supra?

Looks to me like the wireless charger is just on the other side of the gear shift. Not that far out of reach

Agreed, Toyota is not without it's flaws either. But they do seem to be a little better then the competition. My 2nd gen Tacoma and 3rd gen tundra were decent trucks they still had there own issues as well.

The gear shift might be very close to the driver, making the wireless charger not so far out. I do agree that a truck that should last a long time shouldn't have ever-changing tech baked in. Could you imagine how the perception of cars would change if they were putting commodore computers in the dash in the 80's? Look at how long the tape deck and CD player persevered.
I used to be a huge fan of Android Auto and now I hate it, it is an always evolving product, some months are good, some months are bad. When it's having a bad month, tech support is "I dunno, maybe try a different cable?" (I've been a Android Auto user since 2015, I used to try new cables all the time, it was never the cable, why can't my phone just tell me why it disconnected? It made the choice to terminate Android Auto, so tell me why!), unfortunately it is worst in my wife's 2020 Toyota.
I'll be ok with built in nav and a bt audio connection like my 2014 Infiniti. Works much better than Android Auto in our 2 other vehicles with it.

Very few people, but that's not the point. It's a convenience feature, not a physical condition-driven necessity. A nice to have. Most of us probably take the elevator or escalator instead of stairs at places, or have a camera on our phone. If it's there, use it, no need to complain about it. Nearly every car comes with it now, and every Toyota.

My wife's 2020 Toyota can almost completely drive itself, aside from intersection recognition. I find it amusing, sometimes scary, and I see absolutely no use for it, except maybe for one thing....
It can drive up and down our curvy roads just fine, but it always complains if you leave your hands off of the wheel too long. I mean, what's the point then? When I have my hands on the wheel and the car and I disagree on what the center of the lane is, it tugs against me (it can follow a wrong line) so if I'm supposed to be driving, why is it disagreeing with me?

I found the only thing it's good at, and it's not a good thing either.... If you want to play with your smartphone while driving, just loosen up on the steering wheel and focus on your phone screen. It's way safer (in my case) than when I'm swerving all over (I'm so bad at driving while looking at a smartphone that I absolutely won't do it)

The one new function of her car we like and we find to work very well is the auto high beam function, which is good because the LED headlights suck real bad!

Yea we find the Lane steer/assist feature pretty awful on the roads by us in our Rav4. Always jerking and ping ponging. I test drove a Tesla Model Y and that was insanely good in comparison.

Going back to that red interior, I saw the new IS500 with a red interior. What shocked me was how much of the interior parts were actually completely red. I'm used to red seats and red inserts in the door panels. Nope, the IS500 is almost completely red.
It brought me back to my first real job as a Cadillac dealership lot attendant in the early 90's, when an early 80's Cadillac would roll in with its gaudy all-red interior. It was total deja Vu

Yeah it's so half baked I wonder what good they think it is?

Fortunately, easily turned off and stays off.

There's also a certain scenario where the car will try to rear end a stopped car, it's super easy to replicate.

I have the same features on my commuter RAV4 but honestly it’s an excellent feature at TIMES. Especially when driving home after working 10 or 12 hours and only getting 4 hours sleep the night before.

But a question in general (not aimed towards you @rocky1500)…why keep pushing Toyota to catch up with the times when all these new technologies are sometimes nuances? As old as the Tundra it’s really not that far behind any of the competition. Admittedly behind but not to the degree consumers, media, and other manufacturers will have you believe. At this point NO MATTER what Toyota does the new Tundra is going to suck you can clearly see it. I am definitely no engineer but I know enough about life that everything is a give and take. I guess I am a simpleton that grateful for what I have and not what I want. Toyota will NEVER make the perfect truck…because unicorns don’t exist. But Tundras do :)

New technology is good once it is tried and true. I love older tech and knowing that everything I own will work correctly. I don't need anything fancy, I need my stuff to work. How many of yall have something that's old (besides a tundra) that you prefer over the newer, most updated model? Here's a couple of things that I have

1947 wilton vise, much better than my 2000 wilton vise
I just sold my 3 Lincoln welders, they ran great and never gave me problems, 60s and 70s models
Older Snapper lawn mowers, with basic maintenance they last forever, and I've used mine for a bush hog many times, just picked up 2 more actually
Diesel trucks, my 7.3 will outlive of us all at this rate, plus no emission junk on it
Coleman lanterns, mine are all 70s and 80s models, I sold all of my newer ones cause they were junk

I believe toyota will hit the mark with the new tundra, and it will be a proven, reliable setup, using technologythat is already proven. There is no telling how many years they've been developing this, and working out any kinks. Will it have a few teething pains? Possibly. Will it be reliable? Absolutely.

Toyota would not do a complete redesign, spend money on R&D, tooling, etc, just to release something to its customers that would break down and be as unreliable as the big three. It's reputation is in its reliability, and spending huge amounts of money to release a new model would be pointless for them, if they didn't keep the reliability aspect.

I'm sure the million mile tundra was brought up several times when they were doing their R&D, and they used alot of what they found to build the new truck, because it worked it so well for the million mile truck. If they just wanted to get better mileage to meet CAFE standards, etc, they would have just threw a new powertrain in the current gen, and I'm sure they could have addressed certain things to increase payload and towing as well, it certainly would have been much cheaper than designing a completely new model, but im positive they know what they're doing, and they'll hit the mark they set out to achieve.
