Looking to upgrade my ride from the black "stock" shocks that are currently on my 2020. I was thinking about the 4600's, but I like the fact that I would be able to do away with the leveling kit I currently have if I were to go up to the 5100's. I'm currently running 275/65/18 Ridge Grapplers on it, and I don't really see myself going up to a bigger tire. I tow a little here and there. Mostly my 22ft Bay boat and my ATV on a trailer. I do a little off-roading during hunting season, but it's not really a great deal of it. Mostly just having to truck through the occasional mud hole and washed out dirt road. However that could change.

Also, where I live possibly has some of the crappiest streets due to the age of the city and the fact that we have some really old Live Oak trees that line our city streets. Needless to say that the concrete on most of the streets is no match for the root system on a 200 plus year old oak spreading under it. The standard suspension will get beat to heck and back over time down here.

The reason I brought up the tire size is because I had read that the 5100's are more geared toward having bigger tires or lifting your ride up more than the stock height. Other than leveling the front w/ the back, I do not see lifting the truck in the future. Bigger tires? That's a possible perhaps, but I would venture to guess that I won't.

Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty green when it comes to the whole suspension game. If there is possibly another option I should consider please advise. I'd like to stay low on the money side if possible, but at the same time I don't mind spending more if needed. I would just rather get what I need, and have some cabbage to spend on it elsewhere. Thanks in advance!

Your ride will be softer on 5100s at the lowest setting. You’ll be able to do away with the leveling kit which is preloading your shocks, and you’ll have a more plush ride.
Then in the future, you can always change the setting on the 5100s and put larger tires, if you like. The 5100s were a definite upgrade from my 4600s, even on the middle setting. Good luck and welcome!!

Thanks for the info. Guess I was questioning the 5100’s just based off of everything I have read regarding them revolves around one modifying the lift all the way around. I’ve read a lot of stuff saying that if you’re keeping your truck close to stock to be sure to go the route of the 4600’s. I do like the fact of doing away with the leveling spacer, and having it setup to go with a bigger tire if I choose to do so in the future. Thanks again for the input.

Thank you. Black gets dirty easy, but I think they look great all cleaned up. Well, I guess you’d say I think they look great dirty too. All I’ve ever had were black trucks. Definitely my first Tundra though. Not even three weeks of ownership yet and I’m truly loving it. I think I made a great choice.
