I wonder how it will work for people that did the In-Person DAP tunes. I remember hearing that its "Untraceable" per DAP....wonder if that still stands

Just remember to drive 50 miles between flashing so you are in a Ready state.

Is the DAP tune CARB approved? If not, I would imagine that you will have to go to your tuner and have it flashed back to stock in order to pass.

no its not. I believe they stated that it should pass the test, but now if they are testing for a modification to the tune it might show up.

Dap did a roadtrip that was an in person tune that didn't come with a handheald, not sure what will happen with those people. I almost did it this way, but i opted for a handheald. Glad i did.

Unfortunately, I have a feeling that those people, like the people who went to tuning events for OVTune/VFTuner are going to be in a really bad spot.

I didn't know OVT did events too.

Yeah, i hope those people still have copies of their stock files.

It wasn't OVTune doing the events, it was basically anyone with VFTuner and a flash cable. For a long time people were literally selling other people the OVTune base tunes for 3rd Gen Tacomas.

Arizona is a weird one. Still the wild west but we have emissions in major counties and only get 91 octane gas....

Is Julian one of the non smog city’s? I really like it up there, maybe should convince my parents to move up there, they want out of California but there’s a downside to living everywhere.

We have this exact thread on TacomaWorld. The staff will put out the same suggestion/warning:

This is a Tune/Emissions testing thread. What this thread is not is a anti-CA or political thread.

    You have been politely warned.

I think knowing which city’s do not require smog is fairly beneficial to those of us who have tunes. Lived in California 33 out of the 36 years I’ve been on this earth.

I think some counties don’t due to low density

The people that smog now will already know what counties this effects.

I had no idea that Julian didn’t smog. And some of us move around California instead of leaving.

Those that know, know... I've asked around to find a closer place, but no one seemed to be willing to share that information... the down side to sharing is that it raises the pop size therefore negating such benefit.....

I just looked it up. Apparently smog check requirements are by zip code in Ca. I dealt with them ever since they started back to the NOX box days. Huge reason I bought my 2nd home where I did, no smog checks, that and being able to shoot in my yard!
Only problem with Ca is the bad policies!!!!
