I was surprised to see no bunks on a trailer with "BH" in the model code.

My toy! I noticed how far forward the car was after this picture and moved it back a few feet. It was my first time loading up the trailer after all.

2019 Grand Design 2800BH weighs in at 6650, with all the regalia we need. I went with the Blue Ox Sway Pro WDH. We towed it 4-1/2 hours on our first trip. It tows like a dream. We averaged 10 mpg and thanks to chasingnicholsa93 my trans temps never went above 205. That trip was 9n the PA Poconos.

Lost a window at Mt. Evans on Saturday night. Hail came in and I was trying to get all the windows closed. What a mess.

Nice looking setup. We have also have a 2800BH and couldn't love it more. You also impacted by the LP regator recall?

Tundra does a good job towing it and Nick's cooler dropped our temps by 20-15+ degrees.

    Cheers and safe travels.

Looks like that aftermarket cooler might be better than the old factory one. I used to tow my 2800BH with a 2016 Tundra, transmission often got to 240+ in the mountains. That was using S4 and taking it easy.

I did the regulator swap myself instead of taking it to the dealer. I think it was less than $60 for a regulator and thread tape. Took about 30 minutes all in, way easier and less time than the dealership.

That was my original plan. Not sure how much it matters, but I didn't want my campers records to show any outstanding recalls. My dealer is doing the swap and pressure test while you wait so I'm going that route.

Im at a month on the wait list right now for a regulator. Doesnt sound like there is a trusted timeline for stock. Really only an issue if you're boondocking anyways. Our dealership warned not to run it at all. They apparently lost a rig in their parking lot due to the failure.

I have a punchlist of warranty work to get done on mine, so it'll go in once for everything. Just glad we already had the hoses for our grill and that i didn't toss the regulator that came on it.

The stove and range operate on propane even if you have electric hookups. And I connect my Camp Chef up to the external propane port.

Yeah, copy all. i had figured most people use outdoor cooking options. We had to connect our Q2200 back to the high pressure regulator and connect direct to the bottle in the interim, and we're limited to electric for the H/W. If it isnt here before the cold hits we'll just run ceramic heaters.

Not ideal and certainly not graceful, but it's been working.

We love the GD 2800BH as well. Thanks for the heads up on the regulator. We just picked it up about 6 weeks ago, of course the dealer didn't mention anything about the recall. I will look into it.

Hopefully, it will not be included in the recall. Like a safety recall on a car, if you take your trailer in for service they won't release it until the problem is resolved. I received the recall notice June 28, but when I called the dealer they were unaware of the issue, so It might be close.

Just spoke with GD. What great customer service! Brandon at GD researched it, and confirmed the recall was cleared during previous ownership. I also mentioned an issue with the stereo/dvd. He emailed me info to register as the new owner. Then told me to contact him for a replacement once I complete that.

Hey folks, at the end of September I'll be picking up a camper to haul. I've been nosing around trying to find answers. I'm looking at something around 28ft. Probably around 6klbs. Is there anything I should know in advance? I'm in a 2021 SR5 Crewmax. It does fine with my utility trailer but are there any must have upgrades or will it be fine stock?

Highly suggest upgrading to a 2018- transmission cooler setup ( tons of info in this forum )
    10 ply E rated tires
Properly adjusted WD hitch with bars rated for the tongue weight of your camper
Some kind of Anti- sway device ( some are built into the WD hitch )
    Tow mirrors
Hit the weigh scale after you have everything to know your #'s

    Best of luck !

Forget the the dry weight and look at the GVWR. Forget the hitch weight and multiply the GVWR by 12% to get an estimate of what the true hitch weight will be, then look at the payload in your door jamb.

Finally, discount anything the RV salesman tells you about your trucks capability to pull the trailer.
