Just bought a K&N cold air intake for my 2016 5.7L V8. I know a lot of guys have problems with needing to replace their mass airflow sensor based off reviews from ppl with different trucks (mainly Chevys or fords) couldn't find anything on it regarding tundras.. Anyone know from experience if I need to replace my stock sensor for the truck to run as intended??

Replacing the sensor will do absolutely nothing, and any sensor claiming otherwise is just snake oil and can fuck things up even more. If you want full gainz unplug the battery for awhile to reset the ecu so it'll recalibrate with the new filter, but honestly we're talking a miniscule if any difference so I wouldn't even bother with that. Make sure you don't over oil the filter, that is what kills the MAF and then you will need a new one.

Waste of money. Your truck already had a cold air intake.

You just made your Truck louder. Maybe not any faster with the hot air intake, but it will sound cooler.

You don’t have to replace the sensor. Just unplug your battery while you’re installing and use the stock MAF. While you have is out clean the MAF. If you wanted to save money the SABM is basically the exactly same thing at a fraction of the cost. If you’re doing it for engine sound/ cosmetic CAI will give you what you want. I’ve tested both for thousands of miles and there are no performances gains and intake temperature is exactly the same while driving (~4 degrees above ambient). Sound and how fast the air heats up
While stopped is the only difference. My CAI is now a garage ornament.

Return the K&N if you can and pickup the AFE Super Stock system or TRD system. Couple it with a TRD Accelerator and SABM and you will have upgraded an already well design system.

    Hello,
I would call Keith Carty of Dirty Deeds Industries and pick his brain. No one knows Tundra's like Keith does. He is out of the office most days, but is always available via phone. You can call or text him anytime at 760-877-4234. He does take many calls and texts a day, but is very good at getting back to everyone.

    Thanks, Shawna, DDI
