Hi! I am an owner of a 2012 Toyota Tundra and am unable to get an inspection due to emissions code. I took it to a shop where I paid to have a diagnostics run but it was not a dealership. The results revealed failed secondary air injector pumps. Upon doing some research and reading it seems this has been an issue with Toyota tundras , enough so that Toyota extended the warranty on that part for 2012 to 2013 Toyota tundras. So when I call the dealership to see about getting it fixed they tell me my truck is not included in that extended warranty. Why I don’t really know except that they told me it was vin specific tundras and my vin was not on the list. Here’s the problem I’m having …. I called and spoke to corporate office and was told the same thing. I really don’t think it’s a coincidence that I have the same model and year as the others and that particular part happens to have failed. Obviously there is a connection here and an issue with Toyota. I have had no other major issues with my truck and have loved it. But they want to tell me there is no correlation to the fact that I have a 2012 with the same problem they are fixing on other 2012 and 2013? Come on now! I doubt it’s a coincidence ! I asked the corporate office if I can dispute the fact that my truck is not included in the program to replace the parts and they told me no! Is anyone else having this same issue and can’t get help from Toyota? Any suggestions?

I've never had to deal with inspections, so I can't be certain that they'll have something that will enable you to pass, but they'll likely have some answers for you.

So, they don't look under the hood and ask about the little black box? Or don't they open the hood unless there's some other reason? Maybe it's something that varies between states/municipalities?

Even if they did open the hood they probably wouldn’t know what it is.

Another one here that recommends the bypass, the system is flawed (on all makes and models) in 5-10 years you’ll be dealing with the issue again. Bypass and be done

My 05 still has the system, but it’ll be going bye bye eventually

I just installed the Hewitt SAIS Bypass on my 2007 4.7l w one of the Pressure Sensor Options on bank 1 and it’s been working great so far. Truck drives full power again all codes are cleared. We’ll see when they do my inspection in Jan.
