I used the amsoil signature before and it is good but the 0-30 is just as good and cheap. If i ran long intervals i would use amsoil.

I use regular conventional oils. Whatever I can find on sale. Remember the best oil is clean oil.

In regards to the Amsoil, my multiple 3.4 and 4.0 Toyota motors ran extremely quiet when using the stuff. Call it snake oil, boutique oil, or whatever they heck you want…it was the quietest oil I have ran in a vehicle.

Mobil 1 5W-30 EP seems like a thinner 5w-30 and I do not notice any significant HP or MPG decrease from OEM 0W-20. Truck runs quiet using the M1 5W30 EP.

Tank average fuel economy is least accurate when you are still at a full tank , your number will drop drastically once your reach 1/2 tank or under and it will be more realistic , guarantee it

Without a doubt, this was 100% highway, and after another 60 miles with some stop and go, I was at 19.1. 2 days later of around town, 16.5.

Truck just rolled 25,000 miles. Changed oil every 5,000 miles, using OEM oil filter. OW20 Rotella Gas/Truck and Idemitsu, both have been fine. Next change will be Mobil 1 EP or Kirkland, suspect they are going to perform identical given my 5K intervals.

Kirkland from Costco is stacked high in the shop. Can't beat the price and quality for me.

Wonder what company the brand actually is? Usually Costco pays a company for their product then slaps the Costco name on it

Saw this question pop up in another oil related thread: Warren distribution.

“ Kirkland Motor oil is made by Warren distribution, which is a North America based company. Warren distribution is the largest blender of private label oils. They also blend their own house brand Mag 1 oil. They blend pretty solid motor oils with decent additive packages. “

Good to see Kirkland is blended here in the US. I’ll load up on the Kirkland/Warren oil and use this from now on. Easy to get, cost is great and US blended. Works for me and will work great for my Tundra.

Someone told me that Costco uses the leftover kitchen oil after cooking the hotdogs and pizza to make their Kirkland engine oil. Their factory is right behind the kitchen area if you can get access.

However according to the internet, currently Wal-Mart Super tech oil and Costco oil are made by the same company (Warren) and both are good oil.

Not sure if I should believe the feller or the internet. Both are kind of suspicious!

I've preferred Rotella T6 5w-40 in most vehicles. My wife's newer Murano says to use 0w20, so I use supertech in it. I'll probably do the same in my 19 Tundra (waiting on delivery from Carvana, and oil change is first on my todo list) until no more warranty, or if it's loud. If so, it's getting the T6.

It really is objectively the best. Necessary though? Nope. Plenty of people have, as Borat would say, “great success” with cheap 0w-20s.

I will say that my engine doesn’t tick like it did before with Toyota OEM and Mobil1 Adavnced Fuel Economy oils. It’s substantially quieter. I like Amsoil. It’s going in everything of mine.

If a guy was to try out Amsoil in his vehicles, where to buy? Sorry, "snob-oil" noob here, no offense intended. I saw that there were a few local dealers in my area, I imagine these are guys selling out of their garages.

What's the reality in your neck of the woods? I am guessing we either buy online at amsoil.com or find a "dealer" in the area and make a phone call.

    Or become your own dealer.
In a nutshell, any quality oil if changed regularly w/ filter will take care of any engine.
The trick is to check levels and change when needed.

Agreed. I think quality of oil filter is a largely ignored item in favor of the quality of the oil. Both are important, and there are differences.

Frequency of oil change is the most important item though, in my opinion ~ we certainly agree there.

You are changing your oil to get fresh clean oil in there. Engine oil gets contaminated and the oil filter is not there to clean those contaminants out. Just smell the oil after a 10K oil change and you will wonder how anybody could do a 25K oil change.
